Folded Star templates
I ordered some Folded Star templates that were all nicely marked on a not too stiff backing. They are expansive. I did order a plastic template that you use to mark the background, and I could make the marks on some stabilizer and just pin the fabric down until I do the stitching. I was wondering what others use for that. I have a friend who made a quilt of folded stars and gave it away as a gift...but she didn't stitch them down! When they put it in the washing machine, all the fabric fell apart!

Oh my, what a thing to happen. Did she get it back and fix it if possible?

I always tacked down the stars and then made an X that crossed over the entire finished piece to secure it. What a terrible thing to happen to a gift.

That was what I was thinking, but what do you tack it down to?

I don't know about templates but there are some excellent tutorials for making these with different methods - not sure which method you have. The first link you really need to read thru several times to get the hang of it. The second is a great tute though it looks different, but shows the need to stitch down properly so nothing falls to pieces.
