When you have 2 yards of fabric and you want to fold it, do you fold it salvage to salvage? Or do you fold it first in half, raw edges together then do your folding from there?

It really depends on how you are going to store them. My shelves are narrow so I fold all the fabric the same way. That way it stacks neatly and I can see the pattern clearly.

Selvage to selvage, then use my wide ruler, fold/roll it with that, fold in half when done, put on shelf... :)

I do the same, only I fold selvage to selvage and then half again and use my 6x14 ruler to roll it on, it folds really nicely.

I always fold my fabric selvage to selvage - then if I am going to cut it I fold it in hslf sgsin.

I am putting my fabric into plastic stackable drawers. When you have 2 yards of fabric, do you cut it into 1 yards and then fold it?

After folding salvage to salvage, when you say you fold it in half again, is that bringing the raw edges together or the folded edge to the salvage? Did I explain my question right?

Yes your width will be about 11 inches. 44 in half 22 in half 11. And then start rolling on your ruler makes a really nice display for fabric.

Hmmm, this is an interesting thread!
I usually start by folding my fabric selvedge to selvedge and straighten the grain as I do so. After that, it's totally random.
I do try to not re-fold along the same lines, though, as I've heard that's a no-no.

Why would you cut it, just to fold it and store it? You might have need for it all in one piece in the future.
