I hadn't heard that tip. I'll try the diagonal folding as rolling is hard to find a storage spot for. Thanks!

I don't fold my big quilts. I keep them on a spare bed all on top of one another. Before I had the spare bed I rolled them on long shipping tubes (before noodles) and stuck them in a big tall decorative barrel.

There was a free video, I think Youtube, that explained how to fold it.

when I give away a quit, I also include how to fold it on the diagonal as well as directions on how to wash the quilt.

I roll mine and then place them in a clean pillow case for storage.

My grandmother alwasy started with a corner (safty pin in the corner) and stuffed it into a pillow case. When it came out of the case the pin was moved to the next corner to the right. I have the quilt that I made 50 years ago and there are now creases in the quilt. There are some stains though from use.

That is how I was taught, stuff them in pillow cases. I've never had creases in a quilt when done this way. The idea of using the safety pin in a corner is a good one.

I roll mine and then make a tube type bag to put the quilt in and make a label for it! It's worked for me and I don't get any creases in my quilts! I store them on a top bunk bed.

I need to do this for 2 quilts I have made for Christmas, my problem is after all the hours putting it all together & quilting I don't want to see the quilt ever again lol. But I need to make this a habit for sure.

I fold on the diagonal but also back outwards. My theory is that it doesn't matter as much if the back gets dirty or fade as the front is the important part and needs protecting.
