Follow up to Janome 8900 issue

Tonight, I was giving the 8900 another go by working on quilting the quilt I've made for DH, and the thread broke (it happens). Since I knew the machine had been used at QuiltCon, I decided to change the needle before rethreading. Can you believe that completely solved the noise issue?! I am pleased and irritated at the same time. LOL Pleased it's fixed, irritated I never thought of it myself.

Now I'm really excited to put Ricco through his paces and see how he does! :D

Thanks to everyone who made suggestions!

I'm glad it was a simple fix. I am absolutely wild about my 8900~ I hope I live forever just so I can continue to sew on that machine :)

How much does the 8900 cost?

I was quoted $4,000 over the phone but was able to find it locally for $3500.

I had a newish trade in that just wasn't up to 'my' snuff :) so I traded it in.
He gave me 1900.00 for it, which brought the 8900 down to 2000.00 for me.

I probably wouldn't spend 4K in this lifetime, too many other obligations, but to put it in perspective,
I have a 28K car sitting in my driveway. I use the sewing machine a lot more than the car so perhaps we need to start thinking in reverse? How much is a big screen tv? How much is the programing? How much is the monthly broadband for all the devices?

I'll sit and sew with a smile because I don't have any of those things :)

I admit that I got a REALLY good deal on this machine at QuiltCon. They were being used in the classrooms, and I picked it up for $1850 with tax. But the total time on the machines was less than 40 hrs so I think I got a fabulous deal. I've been quoted everything from $3500 to $5000 for this machine, so either way you look at it, I made out like a bandit. And the more I use it, the more I like it. I'm pretty sure that by the end of quilting the one I'm working on now, I will love it. :-)
