This one still isn't finished, but I wanted to post another picture. I had one row of quilting done and was questioning the veriegated thread. Every response said to take it out, but my wife loved the organic look of the veriegated, so we kept going. It's a modern quilt, and the quilting seems to fit. I like it much better now that it's finished. We're definitely not changing it now, but I thought I'd see if anyone else thinks it looks better now that it's finished. Your quilting adds nice texture.

I missed your original post. The bottom line is that you and your wife like it. It's not MY style, but so what?

Bluelady 12-12-2016 11:17 PM

Beautiful quilting! I like how it goes in and out of view.. so to speak..

sinceresissy 12-13-2016 03:30 AM

It's your quilt and you get to do what ever you want. I get to do whatever I want and we are all happy happy.

I really like it. It is new and creative. I like the total quilt as well. Great job.

I like it! Can you tell me the panto pattern name? Quilting looks great!

wesing 12-13-2016 12:15 PM

Hi JT -

I don't know if she named it, but this is in Cheryl Barnes' book, "Quilting Dot to Dot."

I like the variegated thread. It really provides movement and interest.

Stitchnripper 12-13-2016 04:40 PM

I am a fan of variagated thread and I love the way yours came out.

thread looks great to me.

I simply love it!

Texas_Sue 12-14-2016 10:51 AM

I love your quilting - The quilt is a really nice modern quilt and I'm really not into modern - I'm one of the quilters who stick to traditional quilts. I'm just more comfortable with them. That said, I think you've done a very fine job on your quilt! Way to go!

carolynjo 12-14-2016 02:01 PM

Happy! Happy! Happy! You both like it and that's all that matters.

ddtrina 12-14-2016 02:07 PM

Sometime when we do the predictable, quilts are not as interesting. I like how the variegated thread makes you look closer at the quilt.

Bree123 12-14-2016 02:28 PM

I saw the original thread, but didn't comment on it. My personal preference is to only use variegated thread when all the variations of color/tone show up equally on the background fabric. That said, sometimes photos don't look the same as the actual quilt due to light & shadows. Other times, it's simply a matter of personal taste.

Just about anyone who has made commissioned quilts will tell you that there was at least one quilt that they just didn't like, but that their customer was absolutely thrilled with. I have one in my mind right now. Your quilt, in my very humble opinion, is still quite attractive -- even if some of the quilting disappears into the background fabric (although, again, perhaps that only happens in the photo & not in real life). I hope you & your wife enjoy it for many years to come! :)

lots2do 12-15-2016 04:24 PM

I think it's pretty neat how the stitches disappear and reappear. Lovely and this does work with the style of your quilt. Aren't you glad you listened? 🙂

saperry 12-20-2016 12:38 AM

Missed the first post. This isn't my style but that doesn't matter as long as you like it. I think the quilting looks absolutely perfect as far as technique and quality and talent.
