I DON'T HAVE A DESIGN BOARD SO I AM SO GLAD TO HAVE ALL OF THEDE GREAT IDEAS. THANKS

I also attached my design wall by putting up the 3M velcro strips and hooks that do not take the paint off the wall, or require large holes to be put in the wall.

I use a $7 tablecloth, works great!

I see that this question is pretty old, but wanted to respond in case you hadn't purchased a design wall just yet. I have limited space in my home so my hubby took PVC pipe. He made it large but you can cut it down to whatever size you want or have the store cut it for you. He took 4- 8foot lengths and 4 corners to make a large square frame. Then I took some Warm & Natural Batting 96" wide (or you can use felt, sold at Hancock or Joannes) and wrapped the batting around the top pole and sew'd it so it won't slip off and did the same to the bottom pole. When I want to use it, I just hang it on the wall right over my pictures and when I am done, I remove both side poles and roll up the batting onto the top or bottom pole with my project still on it. It keeps everything in place and no wrinkles. I don't have to keep taking it on and off. It stores very nicely under my queen size bed. Hope this helps someone. Kathy P.

Great idea and I'm printing it off for DH to make me one. I like that it can be removed when needed without much fuss. Thanks for this info.

Sure it is so easy to do. I will get a picture of it tonight and do my best to get it posted. I am a visual person too!

I don't have enough wall or open space on the floor for a design wall. I don't use one and I just follow the pattern in a book - they turn out great.

Speaking of the F&P design wall, check out Katie Pederson's great blog Sew Katie Did and this very nifty idea to expand your design wall space (is there ever enough?!):
http://sewkatiedid.wordpress.com/201...-artist-to-do/ I have a one block wonder up on my main design wall getting sorted into its final shape, and that is taking time...what a great idea to have a second wall rolled up that you can use for projects you have on the go so you don't disturb a slower, long term effort that is already up there! |
