Do you believe this came in a fortune cookie I got the other night? You could have knocked me over with a feather!
I've heard measure-twice, that's what carpenters say, but this cracked me up!

Leave it to Chinese to be super cautious! And on a very few occasions, I have measured twice and still messed up, so maybe 10 will be my safety number!

ManiacQuilter2 08-10-2016 03:45 AM

Never heard that one before. I do check my measurements twice as the old carpenter's saying goes.

LOL......See! All the world's a quilt (or quilter!)

I hope you've enlarged that and tacked it near your cutting table. Funny, funny. I've been known to measure 3 times and still get it wrong. That's when I switch gears or go to bed!

How appropriate for us sewers but I never measure more than twice. You probably thought someone picked that certain fortune cookie just for you!!! LOL

Doggramma 08-10-2016 06:06 AM

That's too funny!

SewingSew 08-10-2016 06:16 AM

That is too funny. On the night my husband and I got engaged, we went to a Chinese restaurant. When I opened my fortune cookie it said, "You will have a wonderful marriage." I kept it and put it in a photo album. We have been together for 31 years.

 That is so sweet!!
that is one I definitely would still have!

my sister used to save every fortune. Put them on her mirror. She thought that each and every one was truly designed for her :). I was there one day reading her "mirror of good fortune" and I said, hey, I got this one the other night at dinner. Shattered her dreams! Funny. I felt kinda bad, I didn't know.....

there definately are are times you get a fortune that really applies to something in your life and I do feel it was destiny

What a surprise to find in your cookie!

sparkys_mom 08-11-2016 07:20 AM

I love that. A few years ago we were asked to make fabric fortune cookies for a departing president of our guild and to put a fortune in the cookie. I would have loved to have had that one.

Great one. I had that feeling when I first started quilting, now I am down to two or three. :)

You made me laugh! Thank you for sharing!

BETTY62 08-11-2016 09:33 PM

Now that's advice that I really should take to heart. LOL

One of the best fortune cookie messages I have seen!

QuiltingBear 08-12-2016 05:09 AM

And our "game" at Chinese restaurants is to add "in bed" to whatever the fortune says... not so funny this time but usually good for a chuckle in a group...

What a hoot! It is always bazaar when a cookie fortune comes up something that applies to you perfectly.

I have actually been in a fortune cookie bakery where they make them in San Francisco. It was a very small, dark place that seemed to have tinker toy machinery that was really complicated looking. In this place, the fortune cookie was folded by hand and the person taking the cookie off the line not only had to be fast at folding them, but had to have asbestos fingers because the cookies were really hot when they came off of the line. The gentleman telling us how they were made said that the people doing this job had been doing them for so many years that the heat from the cookie no longer bothered them. Wow!

That is lovely! What a great way to start a life together, stars aligned :)

I usually do measure more than even twice. Not a perfectionist just a little lightheaded at times.

QuiltnLady1 08-16-2016 07:59 PM

What a cool fortune for a quilter. Tessagin, I too tend to measure more than once -- sometimes my eyes don't focus right (and I am not yet a candidate for cataract surgery).
