I'm thinking of going back to get the other ones. Opinions???

I'll ask my son to take photos over the weekend.

Thank you for saving it from the atrocity of the its intended purpose. One has to wonder why they would "get it cleaned and oiled and running" if they were going to make bookends with it.

https://www.sandman-collectibles.com...r-machines.htm has a good site to get started identifying Singer sewing machines.

If you are certain that it is a 201 then https://oldsingersewingmachineblog.c...hich-is-which/ tells about the different varieties of 201s.

https://sewalot.com/singer_201k_sewalot.htm has some good history about 201s

http://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_mach...-database.html can tell you the age of the machine.

The 201 has a very good reputation.

i'm going back tomorrow. he said he had 2 more at home, and another one in the store. I have a dear friend i sew with on Tuesdays. she has so many featherweights and collectables. It will make a good christmas gift for her.
What was wrong with this man to think a book end was the way to go. some people have no sense. It's still in my car. i live about 350 feet from the parking lot, my son will bring it up for me tomorrow. i'll give your more info then.
to all of you who gave me sites to go to, a very big thank you. I'll get the info tomorrow, and let you know.

I found my 201 in the back of of a thrift shop. They were going to take it to the dump. Mine was in a cabinet and my friend wanted the cabinet. I offered to pay. Shop people said "take it and save us a trip to the dump". It had all the accessories and the book.

the website Janey gave me.
so far, they are about $295-$395 on etsy

lynnie 10-06-2019 10:07 AM

so now i got all the info.
it was made on Sept 11, 1954
she runs like new, too. all of her decals ar in perfect order.the front plate
is what i call tuxedo stripes. it's not the elobrate swirley one. it's just the
plain engraved straight stripe.
She has a nice light on the back too.
if anyone has any more info, i'd love to hear it. thanks everyone.

99K is one of my favorites, I've got several of the different variations. The last one I bought for $75. I opened the lid and saw it had an original Singer hand crank!

this is my 1954 model
