As the ones I swaped with you have noticed I am into bright colors, mostly because I have been sewing for my granddaughter and nieces, and this is what they like. These colors make me smile and feel happy, I'm sure, once I quilt more and more i will change my taste. i just bought more fabic..bright of course but I have started leaning toward the old fashion blue and white florals..I think they are danity and pretty.

You know ladies I didn't mean to just make this answerable to those in the swap....It is just that as i am in the swap and caught the stash prediliction I naturally spoke in reference to those ladies. The question is open to anyone.

Well, if you really want to know...
I tend to go for bright bright colors and pastels. Hmm. I don't enjoy working with shades and my stash shows that. I like the nice 'clear' colors. (I guess I'm not as country as I thought.) I have two boxes of florals and two boxes of most colors but only one of purple and pink. I have learned the last couple of years to buy less focus fabrics and more tone-on-tones. I made a quilt for my daughter and she chose a shaded rose color fabric. It was the hardest thing for me to work on because it was outside my 'comfort zone.' I know it's good for us to "s-t-r-e-t-c-h" ourselves but it hurt!!! And it took forever to finish the quilt. Today I'm working on a small red and white quilt wall hanging. Bright, clear and so pretty! :-) |
I have 2 garbage bags of fabric. I don't buy a whole heck of a lot of fabric more than I need. I just don't have the room. Of what I have, 1 bag is all south west material given to me for the quilt top I already posted here. These were all pieces that never made it into the quilt. I don't like them and I probably won't use them, so I've been giving pieces away as gifts.
The other bag is pieces left over or I pick up for a project in the sometime future. I have a little stash of animal prints for that quilt. All the other stuff is solids or tone on tones which I love. I would have never thought about what's in my stash without this thread. I don't have any florals. Sometimes I buy them for a project...but don't have any left over. But I really love solids of bright colors. |
I have mostly srong colours, tone on tones or Batik and dyed fabrics. My stash is very unbalanced :lol: a bit like the owner maybe :)
I find I have to consciously buy lights, because when I want to work on a value quilt, there are never enough of them. I tend to impulse buy fabric so buy more of the type of fabric that appeals to me. I keep promising myself to get in there and sort it all out :lol: Will have to put that on my round tuit list. |
