Found the perfect iron rest

I've had a dry iron for just over a year and all of a sudden it started acting up.
Finally DH opened it today and found out what was the problem. I guess the
wires broke as I kept the iron standing up. He cut and shortened the wire a bit.
Now to find an iron rest. Finally came up with one and it didn't cost anything.
An old 8" square metal baking pan. Just thought I'd share. :)

Are you saying you lay the iron flat inside the baking pan right against the metal? Do you put anything else in the pan?

I have heard of steam irons left standing would cause them to leak and sputter water. This may be true since most steam irons do this over time. I'm guessing you turn the baking pan upside down to lay the iron on the bottom, the air inside would help keep the pan cool. I like to use the silicone ironing pad. It doesn't get hot. Maybe put the pad on the pan to keep it elevated as I do tend to touch the iron if left flat to the board. Thanks for the tip.

I would be afraid the pan would get hot and then I would touch the pan.....My iron has a base on the end of it so when I put it down standing up the wires are relaxed and don't get pinched. Seems like I've had this iron for about 8 years!

I put the iron inside the pan but it rests and an angle, not flat.
Here's a picture.

Thanks. That's what I wanted in the first place but when I saw $20 I thought surely
I can find a good substitute and save $$. :)
