Found a take-a-long project...
finally found a "take-a-long" project to keep my hands busy when i dont or can't sit in the sewing room in front of my machine...Grandmothers Flower Garden using english paper pieced hexagons...plan on gathering up everything i need to make a small portable kit i can toss in my purse....so excited!!!

Sounds like fun. I plan on making a similar "to go" kit
but with a wool applique project. |
That is quite a talk along project and should last you a long time.
|
Enjoy your new project!! I have a hand project I work on in the car on trips and so it goes slow, but someday....
|
I'm doing dresden plate piecing --- they're my "take-along" project. I plan on the Grandmother's Flower Garden for my next one!
|
I'm also making a GFG as my 'waiting' project. I love making it!
|
What a great idea. Will have to look into it. I know that Connecting Thread has free patterns for the GFG hex shapes to print out on your computer.
Good luck |
I've been doing my GFG "take along" for at least 5 yrs. I hope I live long enough to finish it... I'm 58!! I don't think I can "take it along" when I die :-)))

I love those smaler projects that you can take along with you... I have a hard time sitting still, need to keep my hands busy. I'm glad you found a project that works for you!

I am on my 3rd GFG quilt. The first one took 8 months to make. The next 2 were just as fun but took a little longer. I love having something to work on while watching tv and waiting in car rider line. You can find all kind of ways to fill time when you have something ready to work on. Keep it handy and you will be surprised how fast it will go together.

Careful, now we are talking serious addiction! I always some little hexies floating along. I take my thread catcher, which also holds a thimble and scissors and has a sturdky little pincushion and put the templates, fabic and finished hexies in seperate small ziplocks which fit in the fhread catcher. Amazing what a discussion starter it is. I have rarely not been asked what I'm working on when I sit and work while waiting. One gets so much done in the the time you would ahve paged through old magazines.
