Found at an unusual place.

Went to a Dog show in Detroit on Saturday. I love dogs so I was in heaven, As I was walking around and looking at the dogs and booths of stuff for sale found a bunch of Fiskar scissors for sale, 2.00 each YIPPEE, I bought a pair on ebay for 6.00 and thought it was a deal. Needless to say I bought 10 pair. I am forever misplacing my utility scissors and will NOT use my Ginghers, for every day stuff. People must have thought I was crazy, but I was so happy, I am assuming they were there for dog groomers, but hey the 10 pair I bought didn't even dent his supply

Oh, I'm so envious! I use them in the same way!

materialgrl 03-06-2012 10:27 AM

You are so right,I have warned every body, don't touch my ginghers, I even told my daughter who to give them to if I die, so they will get a big kick out of my stash of fiskars, they will think I am a hoarder of scissors

Jingle 03-06-2012 10:47 AM

Wow - a bargain, I hide my good scissors from everybody, yet they seem to go missing!!!

jlwheart 03-08-2012 05:57 AM

You can never have too many pr of utility and good scissors!

GammaLou 03-08-2012 06:17 AM

Good scissors are such a blessing. I have trained my husband to keep away from my fabric scissors! He has his own pair of cheapies for cutting his coupons and other stuff...

Great find! Congrats

hershery 03-08-2012 06:37 AM

they all know not to touch my good scissors, i also have lots of other scissors they can use.

lillybeck 03-08-2012 06:42 AM

I keep a supply of kids fiskars for everything but cutting fabric and sometimes I will even snip that with them.

pippi65 03-08-2012 06:47 AM

I have many pairs of scissors myself my DH is always needing them. He gets a little frustrated when I say "What are you going to use them for?" And I hound him to get them back. My Cutco kitchen shears were always disappearing till I had a screaming fit...now they leave them alone! I told him that I'm gonna start going thru his tools and taking what I want and not put it back!! LOL

stchenfool 03-08-2012 06:59 AM

Awesome! Enjoy your finds!

BarbaraSue 03-08-2012 07:31 AM

I don't think a sewist can have too many scissors! Wish I was there for the deal too!

Bon-bon 03-08-2012 08:22 AM

my mom was in a nursing home, and she loved to crochet and do hand work. She has sissors tied on every door knob, dresser pull, chairs, etc. It was hard for her to get up and around, so she kept things handy and within arms reach. She loved sissors. Kids still joke about the sissors tied to everything. I am beginning to think like that myself!

caspharm 03-08-2012 09:11 AM

Great deal. I also use Fiskars type scissors for the everyday stuff. I even have them marked for kitchen, desk, etc.

babyboomerquilter 03-08-2012 09:26 AM

What a deal! I love it when I can get a deal like that!

materialgrl 03-08-2012 09:28 AM

I almost feel guilty about buying so many, but there was so limit so I took advantage of the good deal

SunlitenSmiles 03-08-2012 09:29 AM

I have fiskars marked 'fabric only', 'paper/batting', and then i have Wiss Shears from 1956, Wiss tailor points from 1958, an even Wiss utility sissors from 1944 (all i wanted for my fifth birthday was a pair of good sissors, according to family 'legends' i was quite outspoken about it). Sissors are right up there with the wheel on the good for mankind list.

Greenheron 03-08-2012 10:53 AM

LOL, I'm doing things backward--I do use my palm-held thread snips to get behind burrs tangled in my shaggy terriers' coats. They don't have to see me coming at them with bigger scissors and the points make it easier to get in behind the burr and cut it with minimum hair loss. Dog hair doesn't seem to damage the scissors.

beehappyquilts 03-08-2012 10:59 AM

It is always so exciting when we run into a great deal. Congrats.

Believe it or not, every single pair of scissors/shears I own were purchased at dog shows. I also bring my knives along because the shows usually have a sharpener.

I've also bought fabric at dog shows. yup. Seriously. It has dogs printed on it.

I love a good deal! I recently found a package of 4 rulers for 50 cents at a Goin Postal store! :)

nstitches4u 03-08-2012 06:06 PM

Great find! I use Fiskars for paper, stabilizer, etc. you should have scissors for a long time.

carolynjo 03-08-2012 07:21 PM

I hide my good Ginghers and purchase cheap utility scissors at Ben Franklin which I leave lying around for folks to find and use. My kids learned early on NOT to touch my sewing machines or my scissors. (Hubby too.)

danece 03-08-2012 10:22 PM

My family has been informed as to which scissors they can use, my fabric/sewing scissors are off limits, I keep many pairs available to them for other uses, do not touch my scissors

Dotha 03-09-2012 12:23 AM

Many years ago I bought a nice pair of shears that are branded Weiss. I really like them and they are so old now. I have a hard time passing up a new pair of little scissors. I love the little ones.

Rose Burnett 03-09-2012 03:13 PM

A quilter can never have too many scissors. I have many pair and seem to use them all.

Momma_K 03-11-2012 04:36 AM

I have about 5 pairs of scissors, one pair of Singers that cuts 15 layers easily and one pair of Ginghers. Well last year I had to hide my Ginghers from the grandkids....till this day I've still yet to remember where I hid them!! Now I say don't mess with Nanas stuff!! Any of my sewing items, my jewelry desinging items or my work desk are danger zones!! Ha!

Thread Thread Wonderful Thread

I have been playing with free motion quilting and have had lots of fun with it. But the thread is so expensive. This weekend I went to a yard sale and found a full box of radiant threads for $35 dollars. That is 240 spools of decorative threads. I am still so excited. It usually costs me that much to do one quilt. Yeah hoo!!

lfstamper 03-12-2012 09:47 AM

Nice score!
