Problem: It is an old pattern and it has me cutting individual
four tiny triangles, to make a square. If the finished square
is 2-1/2" what size square do you use to use the method
of drawing corner to corner and sewing on either side then
doing it again to make a 4 triangle with two dark and two light.
Does anyone have a method or chart?

You add 1 1/4" to the finished block size if you are talking about quarter square triangles.
2 1/2" would be 3 3/4"
