Frames comparable with machines

Are most frames compatible with different brands of machines? I have a sit down mid arm that I had hoped to use with a frame. As you can probably tell I don’t know anything about this. I have used the sit down successfully but I’m starting to have problems with my hands. Is finding a frame for it unrealistic?

Grace Company sells quilting frames and would be able to provide information about machine compatibility. Be sure to ask about how much quilting space
a frame allows.

I started out with a Grace Pro frame (wood) using a VIking MegaQuilter, then switched up to a stretched Juki 98Q. This frame worked great for both, both could be used on the table also. They don't make the Grace Pro frame any longer though.

No. Most frames are machine-head specific since they require a carriage that fits both head and frame. AFAIK, currently only Grace sells carriages for some other brands. I believe Juki sold a carriage to turn their 2200 (I think that was the number - not a TL but a larger machine) sit down into a frame machine.

What brand mid arm?

The machine is a Baby Lock Tiara.

That's a rebadged Handi Quilter Sweet 16. It *might* be compatible with a Handi Quilter Little Foot hoop frame or a Studio frame (or whatever Baby Lock's name for those frames are), but you'd have to determine the revision number of the head. If it has a stitch regular or if you know for sure that it's compatible with one (I think they were called "Tru Stitch" and are a mouse/puck-like device) that would be a promising sign.

I have my Tiara on a Grace QZone Queen frame with the extended carriage and extended handles. Be sure you get the long arm model NOT the hoop frame model. If you do go this route, contact me and I will give you a PDF of how I added a hand control for the speed, as the Tiara is a foot control machine and that won't work with a frame very well.
Mine works well.

I have been trying to figure this out for the longest time! I have a Tiara but no stand up frame. This is exactly what I wanted to do if it was possible. I would REALLY appreciate your pdf on the hand control. Thank you thank you thank you!!
