How do I do free motion with my Janome DC3050? I am new at quilting.

I am not familiar with that machine. I do small projects FMQ on my Singer Featherweight (a 1955 which is a 1/2 size machine) The size of the project depends on the amount of room there is in the throat area of your machine. If you can drop your feed dogs, you can FMQ. Don't know if this helps or not. Good Luck
