do you use? I have been using a closed Janome foot, the one that comes with the plate to cover the feed dogs. The closed foot has a piece of plastic in the center and metal encircling the plastic. Clear as mud??
I am seriously considering cutting part of the circle on this foot off, to make it an open toe foot. So I am wondering who has done this and are you happy with the results. JulieM |
Leah Day shows doing this with her clear foot, she has it on a video on her site :D:D:D

I have the same Janome foot & plate that covers the feed dogs. I went into a dealer awhile ago to see if there is an open toed foot available for the machine & he said there is not. He did suggest cutting the foot to make it open. I think if I did it I would order a seperate one to do it on. He did say to sand it down real smooth.

Yes, I did it on my Pfaff 7570 darning foot. I like it much better as I can see more clearly what I am doing. Works great...

Well, I did it, and I am glad I did. I am getting bored doing meandering/stippling and want to kick my quilting up a notch.
DH (the quilt police) can tell the difference in my feathers. I still have along way to go, and as I have adviced others practice, practice, practice. When I get brave enough I will post a picture. Thanks for responding!! JulieM |
I did it to my Brother foot and I can see the needle much better now

I have a Janome and the foot I have is open toed. It came that way. I asked the owner of the LQS about it and he ordered it for me. I don't know who made it or where you can order it from, but don't give up, keep asking around.

what about a 'darning foot' can find one at nancy's notions. i have used big foot [clear] and walking foot, but prefer the darning foot. loop around needle...and of course my machine i have the option to drop the feed dogs, which i do when freestyle quiltinig.
