Free Motion quilting and gaining confidence
4 Attachment(s)
Here are a few pictures of my free motion quilting, and I think I am finally getting comfortable after practicing with wavy lines and going different directions while stitching. Before I always had to stop and think about what direction should I sew, then I would get a messy point, lots of picking out stitches, now I find I'm not having to do much of that, as I gained more confidence after watching videos on McTavishing suggested by one of our Quilt shop owners. Thanks Lidia!

Looking good! Practice does really help with FMQ.
You've made it!!!! It really looks great and I bet it feels even better.
your free motion work is looking good. The clamshells are really impressive to me. They are very round and even looking and I can't get that kind of a result without a ruler.
That’s looking great!
That looks great.
That pattern on the bottom I get stuck and cant't decide where to go next. Watson |
Looking good!
Beautiful FMQ.
You've reached the 'fun' phase, and there will be no stopping you now!
Well Done! You've punched a hole through the ceiling and now you are off and running. Kudo's to your perseverance!!!
Very nice!! If you are on Facebook, check out Free Motion Quilting with Jeanne Harrison - many free lessons and practice sheets with different ideas.

Donna, looks like you have found your comfort zone and your feathers look great. Happy quilting.
You're really branching out! Great job!
Very nice quilting D! I took a practice class and have been practicing my skills but it hasn't "clicked" yet. It gets boring just quilting straight lines! (Although I love the look of parallel lines etc.)
You're miles ahead of me with FMQ. Beautiful!!
I know I need a lot more practice :) |
Thanks for the encouragement. I’m determined to figure this out but have to say it’s been a challenge for me. Have a small lap quilt i’m working on so i’ll Keep quilting. 😀

They all look great! Keep up the good work!
Looking good! Are you at your domestic machine or a long arm? That question of what to do next is falling by the wayside for you. I hope to get there, too.
Looks fabulous!!
Oksewglad, I am on my long arm and was so very nervous at the start of getting it, now that I am more comfortable and can relax, I find it is getting easier.
You're on a roll! Keep going, you are doing great! :)
Looks great! Keep on practicing and expanding your skills. It appears that you are making great progress.
