I have a Janome 10000 embroidery machine and I am wondering if anyone else finds the stippling foot hard to use when free motion quilting? I find dropping the feed dogs and using the embroidery foot much easier. Anyone else finding this or is it just me?

I actually had this same problem (same machine) and the trouble was the foot. The foot actually make my machine squeak. Thanks for posting.

So do you use your embroidery foot as well for free motion quilting?

I just took a FMQ class yesterday. The embroidery foot was one of the ones the instructor said to try. Basically, there's lots of feet you can use, darning, open toe, embroidery. Some folks say that a larger foot is better, some swear by a small one. plastic vs. metal, open vs. closed etc. Try 'em all and then just use the one that works best for you. This is not a one size fits all.
