Hi! I know that I am a bit late but have not been able to read my site.
I read the reply that said to move your hands with your speed.

Anyway, somewhere out there is a youtube with a young woman who said that she puts something in her presser foot at the "right" spot to keep the needle going at a constant speed. I'm thinking of getting a cork that I can cut to size.

I haven't tried this as yet as I have not been able to get to my sewing or the board for a couple of months. You may have already solved this challenge but, if not, maybe this will work for you. Good luck

OK, I give. Where is the "right spot" on the presser foot to put something in order to keep the stitching at a steady speed? I just can't visualize it. Help!

It would just be something you put under the presser foot that would only allow it to be pressed down so far, controlling the speed - you can always go "pedal to the metal" and the machine will go at a slow enough speed to allow you to quilt evenly. If you have a speed control on your sewing machine (my Janome has a great speed control), you can set your sewing speed to match your moving of the quilt speed for the best looking quilting stitches. Does that make sense??

Yes, I see now what you mean. Thanks so much for the explanation!
