I feel like I have been in the trenches with this Free Motion Quilting. wow.. lots of ripping out with seam ripper, redoing.. and found a few miracles I am sure not new to anyone.

you need the right foot.

fabric to fabric is not the same. practice on the fabric you will be using.. get enough yardage for that.

sing a song. hah! works to relax me.

utube, utube, utube .. watch these women out there lots of tips for tension motion ect.

I feel like I can now wear the brownie badge of FMQ !!

forgot... practice practice practice too.. :)

Good for you! I hope to earn that badge someday, too. Kudos to you for hanging in there!

Good for you, friend! I'm still so afraid of it. I'm such a wimp! :D:D
But I promised myself that this would be the year I try. I took a class but it was a long time ago and I don't remember anything except how awful my work looked!!!!!!! lol

I agree with the practice, practice and practice LOL Mine is still a little shaky at times, but I really enjoy the freedom of FMQ :D:D:D

Funny thing, my first quilt I FMQ and it turned out good..not perfect but good. I have since tried FMQ on more of my quilts and I cannot do it. I have practiced but to no avail.

Good for you girl!! I'm just learning as well and all I hear is practice, practice, practice.... so that is what I will do!! LOL

I can't wait to finish my current quilt so I can FMQ a baby quilt for more practice--and fun (Oh, yeah--and because I have 3 pregnant people in the family!). They are about the perfect size to have a fun project--yet not too bulky.

I too am still in the learning stage, but I will get there, someday.

I took a class last Saturday at the LQS and learned a lot. But It is going to take a lot of practice until i can try it on a real project.
