I am very new to FMQ ... just completed another Quilt for Kids and, it is true ... the more you practice, the easier it gets. I do have one question. How do you keep the open toe foot from snagging your stitches as you Free Motion Quilt?

I tend to have that problem more when my stitches get a little too long. I have to work hard to keep my stitch length short but not tiny.

If the foot is catching on the top threads, try shortening your stitches by speeding up your sewing speed.

Fast machine. Slow hands. Sorta like rubbing your belly and patting your head.

well move slower for one thing. that will make those stitches shorter in length which is what you want.

I agree with the suggestions and your quilting is great!!

Very cute and I agree with the faster machine but slower hands.

yep.... their right... fast on the speed...slower with the hand movement.... it's the problem i had at first... and i can see we must be "related"... your comfortable with the loop de loops... just comes natural to me... now if only i could branch out a bit... i'm trying!!!

I don't use an open toe foot. I use a darning foot or free motion foot. It is a closed foot and the opening is circular shaped.
