FMQ is fun but it's not something you learn overnight. If you haven't checked out Leah Day and the Free Motion Quilting Project that is a good place to start. Craftsy has classes online that you can enroll in and watch as often as you want.

I have a Brother and I came with the FMQ foot. I like the clear plastic so I can see where I'm going. I do NOT drop the feed dogs, do not adjust anything on my machine - just change the foot and love the results and have NO problems what-so-ever.

Try using an embroidery hoop to hold the section of quilt you are doing FMQ on and make sure you drop your feed dogs.
