I just received a pattern by Sharon Malec, malec-designs.com. It uses a process calling free standing applique. I read the directions, kinda confused... it involves a glue stick and flipping. Anyone ever make one of her patterns or know a good link for how to do free standing applique?

Thank you!

This is the only "freestanding applique" I know of. I'd be interested if there's another way too.

Thank you for finding that! I'm off to work, but just from hurriedly glancing at the pictures, that looks like what they're describing. I'll let you know once I can read it more carefully if it's the same thing for my pattern. Thank you so much!

Found the HGTV link. Between that, the pattern, and the pictures, I think I can pull this off. If it works, pretty cool. You glue the pieces together, no hand work.

Oh that's different than what I knew about and posted. Interesting technique, isn't it?
