:D :D :D My DH arrived home today loaded down with these fabrics given to me by his aunt who had gotten them from a friend of her daughter's. These are what they shared with me. They are obviously very old, but in good condition. Can anyone tell me the era(or eras) they are from? I am thinking of making bags with the big flowered prints.

they look to be maybe mid to late 90's to me :)

Retro fabric especially the big flowers. Looks like stuff I started to sew with in the 70's or 80's

The flowers look like the 70's to me especially '76 we had lots of red white and blue

purplemem 08-02-2008 05:18 PM

1970s to me. I think I had a dress of that nfuschia flower print, my cuz had the blue, and our couch was the orange/brown

Great colors!
I too, say 70's. That's when those BIG flower prints were "in". I made many pairs of shorts out of that sort of printy fabric. Back when I could WEAR shorts like that. lol

I concur (70's) with the minor exception of the daisy on blue fabric which I think could have been like 66 or 67. I swear I had a dress out of it when I was in 6 or 7th grade...

mfre42day 08-03-2008 12:53 AM

I just realized the material that was on smeone else's couch was in my mother's trailer windows in about 72 or 73, LOL!

Bevanger 08-03-2008 04:46 AM

Joan 08-03-2008 06:22 AM

looks like they're from the 70's, which is very "in" right now......

mamatobugboo 08-03-2008 06:25 AM

looks like the clothes my mom dressed me in as a kid - so definitely '70s!!

Grandma Cindy 08-04-2008 06:27 PM

judee -- what great memories you have stired up in some of us, I thought the 70's as well. My maternity bathing suit was right down that alley,LLOOLLLLLLL in 1971.

Quilting Aggi 08-05-2008 03:46 AM

very cool fabrics!!!!

Bev 08-05-2008 11:34 AM

The minute I saw them my mind said 70's. Boy do I remember those BIG flowers. But, I think the ones on the far right might be from another decade. Maybe a little more recent.
The seventies are back "in" now so you can use them for any number of projects. I'd hurry up though. The fad won't last forever.

This all looks like vintage stuff. I have some of these myself, and I bought mine in the mid 70's. Hey will you share your friend, I love free stash? Oh boy, play time. You got a nice friend. The fabric in front w/navy back ground and big white flower w/red in the middle of the flowers is back from 74 or 75. I have a few yards myself. The fabric behind that one was manufactured in 78. the one behind that is mid 80's to early 90's. the fabric beside the first I mentioned w/ orange flowers is from the 70's, the two behind that one is 90's. To the right row, the blue and white is 70's fabric and the brown and white fabric also. The plaid is either 70's or 80's and the white plaid too. the rest I can't tell you. But I have the others, and according the my inventory book, these are the years my record show when I bought my fabric like yours. Hope it helps you. You have a great evening tonight.

Hey I'm doin pretty good I thought 70's too. Those are pretty fabrics! Did you make bags yet out of them?

Gigix12 12-20-2009 01:00 PM

I agree with everyone...the 70's. That Daisy fabric was the most popular as was the oriental print with the orange flowers. Love that fabric.

Bevanger 12-21-2009 04:32 AM

i'm thinking 70's. I remember some of those from high school sewing class ;)

Oklahoma Suzie 12-21-2009 06:12 AM
