Sometimes you just have to walk away. Can you point me towards a picture of the pattern, maybe I can help. What was the biggest issue? :-D

Is this the pattern?

dakotamaid...I had no problem until I tried putting the triangles together in diagram 3 and 4 the pieces are not fitting properly and they are cut to exactly the right measurements..the dotty stars you put up is the exact one I am trying to do.I cut a bigger triangle to fit and it does fit but the triangles are now to big. thanks for the help

I understand. I'm working on something very simple that someone else started. Spent alot of time unsewing and re-sewing. ugh

barbbrad 09-01-2010 05:52 AM

the more complicated ones are fine but this one has me going crazy LOL

barbbrad 09-01-2010 05:55 AM

Sometimes I have to walk away to clear my head and then go back looking with a different prospective. Some take days of off time, but usually it will come to me.

Sometimes we don't notice that we put the triangle on the wrong side. Make sure to check it. I had a look at it and the wide part of the tri's go to the bottom. The shorter sides are sewed to the HS.

Soooooooo, the pattern was correct?
Congratulations on your victory.

Yahoo - the "walk away" did it! The quilt will be beautiful. I've seen the pattern before and decided it was beyond my usual! :-)

barbbrad 09-01-2010 07:21 AM

definatly walking away helped I did alot on it already, quilting for 12 hours straight did not help either LOL

bearisgray 09-01-2010 07:22 AM

Glad you got it figure out.

Will you tell us what the glitch was and what you did to fix it?

I can see where it could get a little "iffy" to assemble.

sueisallaboutquilts 09-01-2010 07:30 AM

Barbbrad- that pattern is beautiful!!! Glad you walked away though, I've had to do that a lot more than I want but the alternative is never a good one ! :D
PLEASE post a pic when you can!!!!!

MadQuilter 09-01-2010 07:32 AM

GLad you figured it out. Triangles can be a bit tricky because you need to mis-align them before sewing or they will be off. There are some templates for triangle work that have the corners cut off and when the corners are trimmed, the triangles can be aligned without having to fudge.

barbbrad 09-01-2010 07:37 AM

the pattern was correct I was just not thinking right LOL
