I am ready to scream!! I am working on a quilt, writing the names of the newly married couple around the inside border and I have run out of thread about 3 feet short of finishing, and I discovered that after I did the first side of the quilt the "H" on his name was stretched!!! I did a test before I started on the quilt so I don't know what happened in the mean time.
I am also trying to install the software that came with my sewing machine onto the computer, both my laptop and this desktop and am having issues with both. The labtop quit working, telling me the battery is low and won't restart even though it is plugged into the wall!!! And I can't get the computer here to read the stupid security dongle that came with my software for the embroidery. I swear, electronics hate me today!!! I'm also bummed because my daughter is now in Iraq to stay for her year tour, and I miss her. I havn't seen her since mid August. I havn't seen my son, who is in the Navy and training in Pensacola since Feb 2nd!!! OK so I am emotional today!!! and ready to toss a couple of computers out the window!!! A good thing, at least, I can get several hours of sewing in, if I can find the thread!!!! |
you know it seems everybodys computers are acting up...mine at work...said a few choice words the last two days..thank goodness I have my own office and no one heard me..and also here at home...everyone I have talked to lately seems to be having some sort of computer problems.
Sounds as if you need a good cry and some chocolate..... |
Sorry about your frustration. Been there. I just call DH and he fixes whatever is wrong and I am able to walk away for a few minutes. I am spoiled being married to a computer guy.
Take a deep breath and it will be much better. Hopefully. |
My guy is not a computer guy. He ran in the house an hour ago to drop off the car and all I got was "I don't know what to do either"
I will probably have to call my new son-in-law over (he was here last night for dinner) He is our "computer guy" Hate to keep bugging him about computer stuff though!!! Time for physical therapy and then hopefully on the way home my local store will have the same thread that I need!!! |
Hey Gayle, would a big ole hug help? :D
{{{{{{{{{HUG}}}}}}}}}}}}} |
I'm sorry. {{{{{{HUG}}}}}}
|
Oh, that is frustrating! Once in a while my laptop won't "wake up" after it goes into sleep mode. I finally figured out that if I unplug it, then turn it over & take the battery out for a second, then put the battery back in & plug it in again, it will restart. That sounds more complex than it is!
Good luck Gayle! ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Gayle))))))))))))))))) )))))))))) |
I feel your pain and hear your scream from here. ((((HUGS)))). Missing your kids and worrying about them is the pits.
Take a break, and hopefully, when you return, things will look better. |
Sorry about your computer problems, they can be so frustrating. Hopefully your son in law will be able to solve the problem. Good luck!
|
That's the pits when you run out of thread just a few inches from finishing. Sorry about everything going wrong in addition to missing your kids. My dh says if it doesn't sew or have a needle or thread, I don't know what to do with it(computer).LOL. Hopefully, your s-i-l can get it going.

Gayle -
Are you working with a Bernina machine dongle? If so do you have Windows Vista on your Desktop & Laptop? If you do then you need to download the Vista patch from the Bernina website BEFORE installing the dongle software. I don't know if that helps but I hope so. |
Yes, I have a Bernina. No I do not have Vista. I am still frustrated!! I am going to get together with my quilting buddies in a few minutes. I will have to tackle this issue on Sunday. I stopped at my local store and they did not carry the same thread, but I found one that was close in color and finished the quilting. At this point I do not care if one can tell the difference!!!
|
OH gosh, girl!
Hang in there! I understand on all counts what you are going thru. Just try not to think about daughter and son,,,,meaning, don't think about where they are. I know it's easier said then done, but worrying isn't going to help either one of you. Don't worry about a little "quirk" in the quilt. They'll know it was made with love, even tho frustration was in there too. Most people don't even notice the mistakes that we see when making them. BIG HUGS to you!!! |
So sorry that today was such a bummer. Isn't that what Murphy's Law is, always something and then it snowballs. Like Terri said, try not to worry about the kids but we all know that isn't easy either. Didn't someone mention CHOCOLATE? Now there is a good solution for everything
|
Hope tomorrow goes better for you.
|
Thank you everyone, I appreciate the encouraging words!! We still can't get the laptop turned on. Tried taking out the battery and reinstalling it. My son in law just last month replaced the hard drive, I sure hope I didn't destroy this one so soon!!
I did get to join my friends and get some sewing in tonight. I was great to get together with them, I havn't been able to sew at a UFO night since before my surgery in April. So I feel a little better tonight. |
Gayle I am sorry for your frustration
I unsderstand ALL TOO WELL about kids being gone and missing them. Laptops are funny sometimes they will overheat and can get bumped around ( you dont know till they dont start) Computers are "suppose" to make our life easier....LOL Sending hugs and prayers |
Gayle-if it's not one thing, it's everything. I am soooo sorry you are frustrated. Computers are fantastic..............until they don't do what we want them to. Hopefully your son in law can solve that problem and get you back on track.
I know you miss your kids and worry about them. That's just what moms do. Here is a hug for you. I know it does not solve anything, but you and your kids are in my thoughts and prayers. Now, go pour a glass of something good to drink, eat some chocolate and see if the world is looking a little better. |

So sorry you are haveing a bad day. Here is a big hug. And I hope your day is better tomorrow.
|
And we're told that electronics (and all the other "new" inventions) are supposed to make our lives easier. What about our foremothers who had a treadle machine and embroidery hoop. Shucks, they sure had it hard. Turn the light off in your sewing room, take a warm bath, pick up the remote or a trashy book. You'll probably fall asleep on the TV or the book. In the morning, you'll have a different perspective and will do fine. Have you ever read the children's book ALEXANDER'S HORRIBLE, NO-GOOD, VERY BAD DAY. At the end it says, "Mom says some days are like that." I'm praying for your children in the service of our country. Thank them for me.

Take a very deep breath and follow it with chocolate.
Go to Bernina's web site. They have a list of possible problems and how to solve them. When I got my new (used) Bernina 200, I had some issues installing the software and getting the computer and the machine to talk to each other. Found the answer right there. And sew some more. Email your kids and tell them how much you love them. Sew some more and take M&M breaks.... |
So sorry to hear this but i know all to well about the way you're feeling so i'm sending you a little (((((((Hug))))))) from West Virgina :)
|
Please thank your children for what they are doing for us. As for the computers, I have trouble sometimes too, and I don't have a 12 year old around who can fix it.
|
I understand about missing your daughter. I was a basket case between calls from my daughter when she was in Iraq. I am so glad she is home,. ( stationed in Mississippi, and my home is Ohio, but stateside is home) and we can chat when we want. Just remember God will take care of her while she is away.
