Frustrations

I have something like 10 flimsies waiting for me to quilt them and a very large bunch of UFOs, not counting plans and WADs. DH is sorta breathing down my neck because he promised a stack of lap quilts to a local rehab hospital (not that I disagree with his intentions at all) Then last night I was playing around and came up with a new quilt pattern and I want to do it RIGHT NOW. Tell me I am not the only quilter here to overload herself.

NOT alone here!! But if DH wants to make a promise HE should be willing to fulfill it!! LOL...I get obsessed with making a particular item, and will not be happy until it's done!!

I have 3 to bind (one by Friday for son's birthday), 3 charity ones to quilt and bind, 1 charity one to make, 1 baby one to make for June, 1 baby one to make for 2 weeks from now and three gifts to buy for people (and of course I am contemplating making them quilts). I also have 3 more patterns I am dying to make. Did I mention a full time job and 2 young kids...

I have a tendency to overload myself with things to do.

For some reason, we do tend to overload ourselves don't we. That or we just grossly overestimate how much we can accomplish in a day :)

You are not alone with your obsession. Just wish I knew the cure!

Had YOU also agreed to making the lap quilts your husband promised to the rehab hospital?

If so - get going.

If not - HE can explain that he hadn't talked to you first, and you have other things going.

I was ready to set blocks together yesterday. Discovered that about a third of them were put together bassackwards. I did my ripper duty and those blocks are ready to reassemble------------but I just laid them to the side and have started another small sewing project, which ought to be done late today or tomorrow morning. Then I'll get back to the quilt.

I don't have to worry about my hubby making work for me. He will never acknowledge what I do.

DH always brags about the impact of my charity quilts. I think he was as thrilled as I was when I was chosen quilter of the year last year. One thing he never does is ignore the value of my work, nor for that matter, my work as a special ed teacher before I was disabled from the job.

I don't blame DH at all for his part in this. He had a major stroke 7 weeks ago. When he was in the rehab hospital, he was greatly concerned by the people around him in PT who needed to be pressured to do anything. Having previous experience with the value of quilts to encourage and focus people on LIFE, and knowing that I agree with him, he had no question that I would want to make the quilts he offered. Perhaps i should have said that a part of my frustration is that I broke a piece in my sewing machine. DH insisted that I call my dealer and arrainge purchase of a back up machine so I would not have THAT delay another time while waiting to get to the shop (150 miles round trip over 3 mountain passes).

WOW my hubby would never do that without talking to me first. He knows I always have 20 things going at once and more on the back burner, so no your not the only one out there join the club, LOL
