I'm looking for frezzer paper sheets to use for appquie in stead of takeing it of a roll. don't like the curling paper and I heard they come in sheets like typing paper. Does any one know where I can get them?

Man, I wish I had known about them before I bought that box of full size labels for $25.00. You really have to work to get your fabric off them suckers.

You should see how I've spelled stabilizer if you think you spelled freezer wrong! I'm such a goof, but that's just human.

i can't remember which is less expensive but compare the cost of the fancy freezer paper to that of a pack of Avery Sticker Project Sheets (3383). The FP is probably less expensive, but the SPS are 15 for less than $10 at WalMart. Fabric is much easier to get off and they are reusable.

also, if settle on the FP sheets, compare the prices between Dharma and for buying direct from C Jenkins, the manufacturer. If any place sells them for less than CJ, it'll be Dharma but it's worth a double-check.

I haven't personally bought the freezer paper sheets. I am just getting into this paper/fabric bonding... I just bought a big roll of freezer paper for less than $4.
You could cut your own freezer paper to size, then lay it under some books to straighten out...so it wouldn't curl up??
You could prob. do a search on C Jenkins paper to see where you could get it cheapest at.
I would think the sticky sheets would be much more expensive, BUT if they're reusable, maybe not.
I don't know how much it costs, but I 've been thinking about getting some of the spray adhesive that is repositionable. You could stick some stabilizer to it and reuse the stabilizer on another piece of fabric since it is repositionable, but you would have to be sure to buy the spray that is repositionable.
I am not speaking from experience on these, though. Just my overactive brain at work... ;)

i have also toyed with the idea of using spray adhesive to hold the fabric to paper. haven't yet had the guts to test it. if anybody out there tries it, i would surely love to hear the results.

I can tell you there is a difference in freezer paper. The one by C. Jenkins is the one I have used for all my applique for several years now. The biggest difference is that is is desinged by a quilter for quilting. The other is not.
The quilting freezer paper is much heaver (stiffer) which helps it hold it's shape much better, it also has a thicker layer of plastic coating on the back which helps it stay stuck to your fabric much better.
As for the cost I don't think it's too much to spend, it gives me the noticable better result to my finished applique. It comes in two sizes, the smaller one will fit in your printer. It cost me $6.50 for 50 sheets, thats a lot of paper for me, (it will do a ton of applique) I think it is definnetly worth it. I purchased my at our local quilt shop, it can also be ordered on line.

I too use freezer paper. To keep it from rolling, tear you piece off the roll and iron it onto your fabric BEFORE you trace the pattern onto the paper. That way, no rolling. If in doubt, just iron a small amount on your fabric and try it. Thank you for your time. :D

Let your fingers do the walking, call the quilting stores in your area, ask the price. Most quilting stores carry it

I absolutely adore ebay. I have gotten a lot of great items both quilting and non-quilting related. Just wish there were more hours in the day to browse!

Freezer paper is quite difficult to get here and I love it for applique, but I was very lucky a friend of friend bought back half a roll from the states. My friend didn't want it :shock: so I scored big time :P and trust me it's treated like gold dust, is my precious :lol:

But if I ever do get caught short, I use ordinary printer paper with a little dab of washable glue stick to hold it to the fabric. Works great and peels off fine as long as you're not too heavy handed with the glue stick.

I belong to the Am. Sewing Guild. Several of the ladies in my neighborhood group have used the spray with excellent results. I used the freeze paper to make a quilt for a lady. It was all pictures of her daughter from birth to 16. It turned out great.
