I did it and had no problems. I did use a very thin batting, walking foot and my backing was cut 2" larger than the block and batting. 10" blocks and batting 12" backing.

I have 4 patterns and the template, but have yet to try it out. Saw a demo at a LQS. I signed up to take a class, but could not not get a sitter, so I dropped out. I will do the pattern that uses the big print fabric. I promised my best friend I would make quilts for teenage sons two years ago so this is something I can do and NOT have it sent to a longarmer. Now just to find time with a toddler running through legs.

Ok here comes dumb question. What is a fun and done? Thanks if this is a duh moment for explaining it to me.

I am right there with you. I made one. It wasn't fun. It is done and no one is going to see it til I fix it. I am adding sashings on top to cover up the crooked ones. :oops: I will try another one. I will not let it beat me!

I finally went and bought seam binding to cover all of the seams and the double seam binding to bind it with. I had to do it by hand because some of the seams were a little wonky. I figure that I sewed about 40 yards by hand - what with both sides, up and down and across. Not fun.

However, we started with a 6" square in the middle and added 6"strips to 2 sides, then added full length strips to the other 2 sides, making a 10" sqare. That was SO MUCH FUN and they all came out so pretty. And that was the end of the fun. I am so glad that it is over!!!!! I'm going to try it one more time. Heard that the 3rd time is a charm. Yathink?????
