Has anyone ever used this on a quilt?
I was thinking about doing a project using all my itty bitty pieces and I mean really small pieces... laying them out on a piece of fusible batting and then heavily quilting them to hold them down. Then the edges could just fray. I would make a placemat to start...just in case. :? My question is: How does the quilted item feel after it's washed? Does the "glue" come out? Input much appreciated. great idea. Sorry, but I have no info. Just think it's a cool idea. :)

I have used it on a quilt and I did'nt like it. It ended up being stiff and it was inconvenient to use. I would not use it again.

Just bought some specifically for quilted window valances I plan to make. Thought it might be great for a smaller project such as this. Wish me luck

I've used Hobbs 80/20 fusable batt and I really like it. It uses a dry iron to fuse and it does wash out when you wash your quilt. You would need to make sure all the batt piece was covered though or the batt would stick to the iron. You would also need the backing fabric on or you would need to peel off the batt from your ironing surface. You can peel up and reposition and re iron on it too. If you look at the post on Confetti quilting, she has some ideas and advice there. I think the Confetti quilts are in the tutorial section?

Thanks Tartan, I have the instructions for snippets quilts where you put fuseable stuff on the underside of the fabric. I figured having the "glue" on the batting would be a lot easier than trying to put fuseable webbing under each piece of fabric.
Thanks for your input! Carole |
yes- the fusable washes out when laundered

I used it on my seagull hanging and it worked great - I also didn't want the fusible web under every piece as I wanted the 'feathers' to stay soft and, well, feathery! :-D

Interesting that it washes out when done. Which brand? Or are they all like that?

I think they're all like that but I used Hobbs - never washed mine though, as it's a wall hanging.
