Fusible Applique
 

I'm making a wall hanging using Heat n Bond Lite. It looks like a wrought iron gate over a landscape panel. I've done something similar using Clover 1/4" fusible bias tape. This is fused to fabric and then cut out. Should I stitch 1/8" from the edge, zigzag the edge, or not do anything? Obviously, I don't do a lot of fusible applique. Thanks,

When I have used Heat and Bond lite, I just ran a straight stitch as close to the edges as possible. It will depend upon how the black ravels. If it ravels enough to distract the eye, you might want to blanket stitch to help control the threads. I always stitch down raw edge applique.

How wide are the applique pieces? Do you have decorative stitches on your machine? It might be a great time to use them.

I used a wide zig-zag to stitch down thin roof tops on a recent project. The stitch added a little texture to the applique design.

1/4". Looks like wrought iron fencing.

I would use a wide zig zag. Set the width so the stitch hits just inside the fabric edge.
