Fusible Batt
 
Has anyone used this product and with what results? Pro's and con's?
I bought some because I am curious and now I am chicken to try it.

I use Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 fusible a lot. it's fine. now it does take some unrolling it. sticks together. that's the only complaint. they should put some sort of paper inside the roll for us. has a bit of wrinkles but that's all.

I love Hobbs 80/20 fusible batt. Con: having a large enough spot to iron it on. I use the old carpet in my basement. I assemble the sandwich on the floor, iron the top from the middle out, flip the whole sandwich and iron the back in the same manner. Con: it isn't a puffy quilt although the batt does puff a bit after the quilt is washed. I am always careful to not use steam to iron in case it dissolves the water soluble fusible. I don't know if it would but I err on the side of caution.

use a pressing cloth over the top??? I tend to use my JoAnn's folding table. fuse , smooth, and move. fuse ,etc. Then turn over and repeat for backing.

I use it all the time. Like nativetexan, I also press on one side, flip it over, make sure there are no wrinkles, and then press again. I also use lots of steam. It fuses much better that way.

This is exactly what I do. It works beautifully! It is especially useful for making QAYG strip quilts for babies.

The only time I don't use Hobbs Fusible 80/20 is when I glue baste a fleece backing and so don't use batting at all.

Thanks for posting this question - I was wondering the same thing! Connecting Threads has all of their batting on sale so I stocked up and just for fun got some of the Fusible Batting to try - but like you, am a little chicken to give it a go!

Starting using fusible batting when I was making totes & handbags. Loved it as then I didn't need to quilt the sandwich together. I do love using it.
