Never experienced residue from Sullivan's spray and use it on Quilter's Dream Orient.

I stitch baste like the Sharon Shamberg video.

Can you explain this further? I'd love to understand how this works. You can do this on a larger quilt? I only spray baste small ones or lap size at the largest.

I use spray basting too and never had it gunk up my needle. Nor do I wait any time to start quilting either. But then it doesn't seem to take that long to dry really, so it is probably dry by the time I start to sew. I use the glue stick for matching seams and never had a problem either.

I just bought some fusible batting to make an iPad purse, haven't used it yet, so hope it does not gunk up the needle.

I love the 505 also, and use nothing else. I also dry overnight and never have issues with gummy needles. I did use another brand once and wanted to pull my hair out. Broken thread, gummy needles, the works! I have used fusible battings for small projects like my featherweight bag, but don't like the stiffness of it for quilts.

In all the fusible battings I know about, the fusible glue is permanent. I have used fusible on purses, but I much prefer 505 spray or Elmers Washable Glue for quilts. Both products wash out completely.

I use Mettler Web Bond TA101 spray and never had a residue problem. It also has less odor than the 505.

Remember to spray lightly. I have a girlfriend who was complaining about all the gunk. I watched her and she was spraying as though she was spray painting. After she started spraying lightly, no problems.
