I'm making some potholders for Christmas gifts and they require Fusible Thermal. I have some Fusible Fleece so was wondering if they're the same thing? Thanks! :-)

I'd like to know too.

Don't feel so bad now that I'm not the only one who doesn't know. LOL!!

When using it it in potholders should you double it?

No, when the word "thermal" is used I believe it meets the California guidelines for being less flammable.

i keep reading about insulbrite. does the recommended fusible do the same thing?

niizh 10-24-2011 01:00 PM

The insulbrite is used for potholders. Has an aluminum type layer inside.

Then I need to ask this question since the first one has been answered. Can I use the fusible flannel to line the potholders? I think I'll double it so will it work? I don't want to give someone a gift and then them end up getting burned when taking a hot pan out of the oven or off the stove.

fusable fleece is polyester- not a great choice for hot pads- since it can melt- the thermal batting is made to protect from the heat- fusable fleece is used more for tote bags/purses- clothing items-

I use insulbrite in pot holders. Don't know about these others.
