I have no clue what feed/flour sack is. I am very much a beginner when it comes to knowing the different fabrics. I know these blocks are a mixture of different types of fabric - some almost feel like a duck cloth, some is seersucker, some cotton. I'm afraid when I wash them, the different fabrics will shrink at different percentages and the blocks are already kind of wonky. I figured it's worth a try just to see how they turn out. If they're ruined I'm not out anything and they just might create something usable.

I also forgot to mention that there is a hand pieced quilt (rather small) that has a few holes in it. Very old. I'd love to try to figure out if there is anyway at all to salvage this. It's very interesting.

I was thinking the same thing. If washed on gentle, I don't think they would fall apart. I know what you mean about the smoke smell. I love my aunt dearly, but if I take a quilt to show her I show her and put it back in the car... She gave me some awesome flat qtrs when I saw her last week. I just threw them in with a load of colored clothes, they came out fine. Good luck

Just wanted to say that we're here in Westminster for a conference this week and it's a beautiful city. Just disappointed that we haven't been able to see much of the mountain view from our hotel window as the weather has been pretty yucky!

We're at the Westin. Went yesterday to visit the Butterfly Pavilion. That was awesome! DH has been in meetings most of the time so I've been relaxing in the room and making yo-yo's. Saw some adorable patterns for stuffed animals made out of yo-yo's and since I have two grandsons on the way (one in August and one in September) I thought they'd be fun to make.

I go right down 104th to a Sew Fun meeting at 5:30 this evening. It is about 1-2 miles from my house.

Hand wash u can also put them in a paper bag with dryers sheets. I also know putting magazines with smells in the freezer gets rid of odors might work for fabrics!!
