GE Steam/Dry Iron replacement cord

Hello!

I have a GE Iron that is probably 40 years old, Model # H8F92, I have searched many sites to find a replacement cord to no avail (the cord started getting really hot).

Has anyone had any luck replacing the cord on an iron, especially a GE brand?

I know that JoAnn's has the Olisio on sale right now, I am partial to my GE.

Thanks,
Julie

Do you know an electrician who could change it for you? Mine had a little
problem because I was standing my iron up until the cord got damaged.
DH opened it and shortened it slightly just to remove the part that was
damaged. It's a bit tricky to do it and you would need crimp-on terminals
and a crimper.

Edit: You might want to buy an extension cord (12 amp) and chop
one end off. You will still need the crimp-on terminals to attach it
to your iron.

I have two GE irons. I got them at a thrift store and paid $5 for each of them. When I see one, I buy it. Cheaper than getting them fixed, and they heat so much better than the new irons.

Consider a sewing machine repair store that may also repair irons and vacuum cleaners.

Thanks for all of the suggestions, I can re-wire the iron, it is finding the right replacement cord. Thanks Julie
