Geez, I just joined the needle thru the finger club!
 

Not what I had in mind to do today. I'm forcing myself to do a little free motion stuff, but that didn't include the needle thru the finger! Broke the needle, went thru by the nail and out the other side. It didn't hit the bone. Think I'll just back off for today. How do I get blood out of the quilt? It's dark, has a light weight denim on the back and dark plaid on the front. My saving grace.

Ooooh! Ouch!! Sounds painful! To get the blood out you take a good length of cotton thread,chew it till it is really soaked in your spit, then rub it gently over the blood stain! I know it sounds gross(ugh!) but it works!! Your own spit neutralises your blood!

Ouch! Just reading that makes my finger hurt.

I'm so sorry to hear you injured yourself! Ooohhhh sounds so painful. My cat , out of fear, bit me through the nail bed of my thumb. Boy was that painful. I can just imagine how a needle felt.

Not a good club to belong too...mine hurt for quite awhile after, I too panicked and ripped it open! Keep it clean!

Ditto. My grandmother told me that many times and it works. It's your enzymes, your blood.

A new member! Whenever I see one I know I'm not as clumbsy as I think I am! Mine went just outside my nail all the way through. No bone. Ouch. Still hurts just thinking about it!

Ouch! All I can hope is that this never happens to me! Feel better soon! Keep it clean like others say.

The only thing "better" for your hurt finger is a LONGARM needle through it....that's what I get for thinking mine would forgive all sins and not mind that I really wasn't paying close attention....:)...bet it won't happen again...LOL

so sorry you had to become a member of our not so small club. hope you can get back to the machine soon. it's like a horse you need to get back to it soon.

Oh you poor baby! I've never done that, but when I was 14 years old my friend & next door neighbor called me crying. Lucky for her that the phone was right there next to her, because this was in 1971...way before cell phones. I got over to her house (she was 15) and there she sat behind her mother's old electric Singer with the needle completely through her nail & finger. She would not turn the needle up for anything. When no amount of talking worked I just quickly turned the wheel before she could stop me. Her finger was sore for days. As for getting the blood out I have used dish washing liquid that has Oxiclean in it on white fabric, but I'm not sure if that would be good for colors.

Ouch...I know how much that hurts. I was 4 yrs old when I sewed thru my finger on my grandmothers treadle machine..went thru at the first joint without breaking a bone..now all these years later arthritis has moved into that spot.

Sorry you joined that club - I can't imagine how that must hurt. Those things happen so quickly!

I also had as needle go through my finger, too....years and years ago, smile. Yes, saliva does work in removing blood stains. I recently took a workshop in reverse applique, and the teacher passed on the same tip.

Make sure your tetanus shot is up-to-date. That is the first thing they ask in the emergency room....don't ask me how I know that one.

Peroxide also works well.
