Hi everyone,I find every time I look at the forums and try to join in I have forgotten my password! Have no idea how to attach pictures etc. Do you get the idea ? I'm better at patchwork and quilting than computing. I always love the forums and find the quilters in America are so generous with their help and sharing of patterns etc. and spend many hours looking through the U.S.sites. I belong to a wonderful group of quilters,we meet every Tuesday and have done for almost 20 years when I introduced them to patchwork.We make many quilts now for charity here in the U.K and for sending out to Romania.I also make fabric books for help with altzheimer sufferers and that gives me great joy.Lots of thanks to you all, God bless in these difficult times. Letty....once I log in I don't log out...I don't even have to remember my password. I'm automatically logged in the next time I come to the board. My DH and I are the only ones who have access to my computer and if he tried to post something with my user name I'd know it in a minute. It took me a while to get the hang of posting pictures...I had help from other members in getting talked thru it. Just ask if you need help, anyone here that can help you will be more than willing.

Hi Letty. This is a nice group of people, isn't it. Everyone is so helpful, not only with quilting questions, but they offer advice and support on practically anything. If you have any posting questions, just ask...I know you'll get some help.

Hi Letty, Im from the UK too! I also make quilts for charity...I took 6 to the Childrens hospice on my town yesterday! I'd be interested to know the charity your group sews for,...is it one of the orphanages in Romania? My son lives over there and hes told me a little about them...I'd love to make some little quilts to send ,but I also know that theres an awful lot of corruption over there! I'd hate the of thought of them not reaching the children they were made for!

(When I first tried to post pictures, I found it MOST helpful to print out the instructions and have them right by the keyboard. After you do it a couple of times, you don't need the 'cheat sheet' anymore....)

Hi Karen, thanks for your message.We send out quilts to Romania through the 'Joy' organization they support an orphanage which cares for abandoned children. Their web site is www.joyworld.org.uk They have also started to care for the elderly,they came across a home for the elderly who were living with little bedding in sub zero temperatures.They do take blankets to them as well as clothes but we made some very colourful quilts with samples given to us by a very kind lady who has a soft furnishing business. Some of the samples are really sumptious so we thought why shouldn't they have a bit of luxury to keep them warm. My church is also sending shoe box gifts to them.I spoke today to the lady who goes out there regularly and she told me that many of the elderly retired people get a pension of just £4 a week and the food prices are on a par with the U.K. Thank you to all of you that replied,helpful as always.God bless,Letty.

Hi Letty , Ive been quilting about 18 months I think. I started when I stopped smoking.....it kept my hands busy and after a few months I'd saved enough money for a new sewing machine!!
My son used to live in Wetherby...is that near you?
I've made quilts for the Bluebell Wood childrens hospice ....a few minutes walk from my house!

Hey Letty. Welcome from South Louisiana (Cajun Country). I know just what you mean about forgetting your password. It happens to me all the time. I have finally written it down on a pad near the computer. And another thing I do is use the same password for everything that requires one. I know nothing about the computer either. Hopefully one day I will be able to post pictures, etc. I am thankful that I can post messages and do personal messages. I have met some wonderful gals on this board, and I have been inspired to begin quilting regularly again. Today, I sat from 5:30 AM until 3 PM with only short trips to the bathroom and a short break for breakfast and lunch. I brain and fingers are fried. So I'll continue tomorrow. I have one last block to quilt and then I can apply the binding. :lol:

Hi Karen.I stopped smoking because I quilted!!!!! I was hand quilting a double bed quilt for my sister-in-law when it occured to me that all the smoke when I took a break for a cigarette was going into the quilt!!As it would take me a few months to finish it brought me up short and I thought 'no it's not possible to do both'.I always find quilters are very caring people and most of them that I meet are very giving and supportive, you are a good example,keep up the good work.I have a copper plaque in my kitchen that reads 'Housework whenever,quilting forever' --says it all.Mother Shiptons Cave is quite a way from us, lovely little town but we took friends there a few years ago and thought tha 'cave' was a 'rip off' as they say.The river walks are lovely though.I didn't sew a button on until a was 50, hated sewing so quilting has changed my life,I'm still no expert but have been glad to pass on the history and the love of the craft,making good friends on the way,who have often proved to be much much better quilters than me .Oh goodness now you can see my age !! Hi Welcome from East Tennessee.
I belong to several different web sites and do a lot of things that require logging in and passwords on the computer. I can't remember them all do have a small notebook, and have categories, like quilting, business, e-mails, chat rooom, etc.. there I write the name of the site and my log in name and password... then when I forget, look it up and there it is...
makes it much easier on this old lady...

Not a dumb question Gail. We don't learn if we don't ask questions. I'm not Celeste but at the top of this page it says "Logout" followed by your username. Instead of logging out just close out by clicking on the big X in the right hand corner of the page. The next time you visit this forum you will already be logged in.

Thanks, girls. I guess sooner or later I'll get the hang of this dang thing, but I "get" enough to keep me afloat on some things here. It's just a struggle that's frustrating at times. Especially when I "lose" something that I really wanted to learn. You see, I don't HAVE a big red X at the top of my page. There is an X waaaaaay at the top, but when I hit that, it closes everything. So until I get enough "smarts" about it all, I may be a little irritating. :oops: You people are soooo patient and helpful. :lol:
