Getting a new serger! Any suggestions?
 

My old serger has bit the dust and DH said I should buy a new one. Any suggestions?

Babylock or Juki. Stay away from Walmart.

I need to get a surger and will stick with Brother. I love that brand.

I have the Bernina 1300MDC (got a great deal used), it is made by Juki and has the same stitches as the Juki 735 and uses the same threading diagrams. Think about what you did with your recently demised model and what features you wish you had. Coverstitch/not? ect. Then go sit down and try some models out at a dealer before you buy. Have them show you threading and ask about lessons/support too. A lot of people like the Babylock sergers for the ease of threading, but I don't find mine difficult at all once I learned how. But then, I took classes at the Bernina dealer and had help to learn.

I just got a Juki MO 644D from allbrands.com last month. I am officially over my fear of sergers with the purchase of this machine. It was easy to learn how to thread, the instructions were wonderful and it actually works.

I love my Brother 1034D serger - I use it all the time and it just keeps on tickin'. (I think it's made by the same factories that make the Babylock) Mine's about 3 years old, now.

It's the easiest thing in the world to thread - and only 2-3 seconds to switch back and forth between rolled hems and regular overlock stitching.

I also have the brother 1034d and love it. (it's definitely not made by Babylock though, each company makes their own sergers.) it's under $190 on amazon now.

Baby Lock for sure. The theading system is amazing and is a no brainer!

I recently got the Brother 1034D too and am enjoying it.

I just bought a BabyLock Evolution...it is fantastic! Threads itself and has cover stitch, serging, and about 87 different types of stitches. The new one is a wave stitch which is so pretty on fleece blankets! Oh, the fun I will have!!

I bought a used Babylock Imagine over 10 years ago after having an different brand before and I think this machine is fanatastic. I agree with all the others that say the threading system is FANTASTIC. I would never buy anything but a Babylock again, but I really wonder if I'll ever have to since the used one I got has been perfect since day 1. It's a real workhorse....adjusts to all different thickness of thread. Can't say enough good about it.

I have a Babylock Evolve which I bought new 7 years ago. I first had a really inexpensive Elna, and later a much more expensive Bernina. I traded the almost-brand-new Bernina 1300 on my Evolve and have never looked back. It is easy to use and fun! It does not do the wave stitch, but I haven't missed it so far. Just my two cents worth.

babylocks are pricey, but thats the way I would go personally. My second choice would be brother or juki

Babylock self threading and you will never use another serger

I have a Juki that is at least 30 yrs old and still sews wonderfully. I wanted one that would do a cover stitch and bought a Pfaff about 12 yrs ago. I would definately like the Juki better if did the cover stitch because it runs quieter and smoother than the Pfaff. Probably wouldn't buy the Pfaff again.

Baby Lock self threaders for sure! I have the Evolution and love it. I did a lot of research before I made my purchase, and Baby Lock was the winner by a mile. The Imagine is a favorite too, but definitely Baby Lock.

Babylock is sooooo easy to thread. I love mine. Wouldn't have any other brand.

Getting a new server! Suggestions?
 

I own a Brother 1034 D serger and I am very happy with it. No troubles and it is easy to thread once you get over the " fear " of it. You feel like you'll surely screw it up but it really is easy to do. it is also reasonably priced!
