Some place on here Crafty (I think) started a thread on what to take it was very itemised I printed it out about 2 pages worth, a lot of members worked on it. take extras of everything! Don't forget your machine power cord and have fun!

I put an address label on the foot pedal of my machine as well as on my rulers, rotary cutter, cutting board, camera and extension cord/power strip. I like my itty bitty book light so I can read and not bother anyone if you are sharing a room. Get plenty of rest as you might be too busy giggling to sleep much there.

Definitely mark everything you take, and take extras of everything. It's a good way to make friends if someone has forgotten their seam ripper or marking pencil and you just happen to have one.

just came back from one last weekend. Extra bulb for sewing machine - one ladies bulb blew, slippers - had them on all weekend. Have a good time!

Wow! Such great tips from everyone. I'm making notes here for when I go to a retreat. Most things I probably would remember, but some I wouldn't have thought of in a million years! Beck55 mentioned an extra bulb and slippers. I'm digging the slippers...it IS a retreat, after all!!!

All of these are great ideas. One of the biggest things that people for get are their clothes and PJ's. I know that sounds funny but it has happened. One person had to go shopping to buy clothes. Have a great time.

I like to take my own iron and small tabletop ironing board. Try to have your projects cut out ahead of time so you can use your time to sew. Take projects that are not too complicated cause sometimes it is hard to concentrate when everyone is chatting! Extension cords and table top light.
|
I like having a small fan to keep me cool, too... (I seem to have my own little nuclear reactor going on inside of me these days... sigh)... extra extension cords always come in handy... HAVE FUN!!!!!
|
a torch--gets you to the loo without putting on lights--power cuts happen every where----next of kin contact number [if you have it handy you will not need it[murphys law]
|
and bring show-and-tell items you've made! It's always fun to see what everyone has done in the past for new ideas

Take a positive attitude and a smile... hugs Quiltinmama

One of my quilting groups says NO irons as they provide them and don't want to extend the electrical capacity of where we go.
That group has also had numerous times where quilters brought their machines but left power cord or pedal & cord ... or both. Oops. Please don't take so much that others don't have enough room. Keep to your area. If you have more please leave it in your car or bedroom. If you do handwork you may want to take some with you for variety. Have fun! ali |
The last couple retreats I have gone on have been at a church retreat location that does not provide linens. If yours is not being hosted at a hotel you might want to check.
If your machine requires it, don't forget the sewing machine oil. |
