Practice, practice and patience.

All I can say is to repeat the quote I have framed and hung in my sewing room:
"FINISHED IS BETTER THAN PERFECT"

Rachel, I can see the seam allowance in your pic and it looks good. At first I thought perhaps you went down to 1/8 inch while sewing. However, I now wonder if that block was cut too big. Measure it on both ends to see if the width is the same.

Rachel,I have been using Sally Collins book Mastering Precision Piecing. She make tiny quilts that have toline upaccurately. Her book and video are wonderful guides to sewing accurately. I know how frustrated you are when you want your blocks to come together accuartely. I struggled with this while making stars. Oh my gosh, I had to be precise in order to not cut off those points.

In fact, there is kind of a magic tip to it and a few others have explained it. It's a very easy tip to put into practice but somewhat difficult to explain in words. If you have access to the internet, you can search for a tutorial for matching sewn seams and the pictures will help explain it. When you get the hang of it, you'll probably be saying, why didn't I think of that! Good luck.

I put together another block yesterday after working on my scant 1/4". I also worked on pinning, pinning, pinning and pinning some more. :) I was pleased with how this block came out. I still have a few seams a little off, but they're off less than what my previous seams were. So I'm improving!

Better block

measure your needle to were your 1/4 sewing line should be, and mark that spot, and then you can lay your head on the table to see as you sew like I do :D your blocks are beautiful. God bless. Penny
