A friend of mine, who quilts, uses starch. She sprays it on and now it's all over her wooden floor in her laundry room - her husband wants it cleaned up ASAP - does anyone know what can be used to get it off the wood - w/o damaging it, of course?

Since it washes out of fabric, couldn't she use some warm soapy water? Maybe use some Dawn detergent. I layer my quilts on the island in my kitchen. Last time I got spray adhesive on my wooden floors!! That took some work to get them cleaned up!

Why doesn't she use Murphy's Oil Soap in water - it is designed for use on wood floors?

How are the wood floors finished?

If they are polyurethaned, then I would probably use a mild soap solution or a mild vinegar and water solution. Polyurethane pretty much protects against any kind of non-abrasive cleaner.

If these are newer floors that might not be polyurethaned, she should use only the cleaner recommended by the flooring company. Flooring finishes not protected by polyurethane can be damaged by some cleaners.

Starch is water-soluble, so plain water should work too.

That's what we thought would work - warm soapy water and then just make sure all the water is cleaned up... thanks , ladies

I just use a damp mop on my wood laminate. As far as I can tell it works fine.
