I think it will turn out beautifully. You see, subconsciously, you really did want to try the two colour binding, and that is why your little 'accident' happened. I did a two colour binding on DGD's quilt and it was awesome!

Are you doing the flange binding? Or just two colors separate? Are you going to sew one color to the other at the ends and make it two colors THAT way? I'm confused, but I'm curious as to your two color binding. Thanks, Jeanne

http://www.instructables.com/id/Two-Tone-Quilt-Binding/ this is not the tutorial i found, but it's the same directions. i'm about half done in getting the binding on.

Are you sure you can't "patch" the cut spot...It might add some character, who knows.

I use two color bindings a lot. I think it adds an extra detail to the quilt.

Been there done that! Sometimes I go brain dead and make stupid mistakes in my cutting. Maybe this wasn't by accident because you were thinking of doing the two color and this was the reason for doing it.

The other side of the coin is...you didn't cut through the body of the quilt. In retrospect, that makes it a good day.

I screwed up royal the other day - I am working on the quilt from hell! I went out and bought some beautiful white on ecru 108" backing fabric. $17.99 a yard (15% off - Hancocks - beautiful backing). Well, my sashing is also white on ecru and I was cutting the sashing for the next chapter in the quilt. I was lining it up and thought "Golly, Gee, these are awful long sashes." Yup, exactly!!!!! I cut the backing fabric. One thing about me, however. I always buy 1/2 to 1 yard more of everything I buy that isn't a fat quarter. So, I met up with the lady from Hancock's and gave her the six slices of backiing and said "I am sorry, I don't know how to figure this one out. " I explained what happened and she got out her calculator, laid out the strips and very nicely said "Don't worry you still have plenty of fabric to use for the quilt." I could have kissed her!!!!!! I did God Bless You her though. It is now on my quilting frame, ready to start tying and I am going to use the cut stuff for my binding! It was cut 2-1/2" and I am all set and done with the cutting of the binding and didn't even know it! Make lemonade.......everything will turn out one way or the other!!!!! Edie

I feel your pain! I've done that more than once while working on a Quilt for Kids quilt. When I do, I end up cutting it down and putting a regular binding on it, kicking myself all the while!!

I've done that, more times than I want to count. Hope your headache goes away and it all works out!
