Make pincushions, potholders, placemats & matching napkins, or a tablerunner!

Chunky necklaces seem to be in style, again . Have you seen the necklace made with fabric, marbles inside, & beads?
I also love the roses made from one jelly roll strip as a brooch!

You can never go wrong giving a small pair of scissors.
Heirloom thread cutters made into a pin(broach) are nice gifts.

Anything pertaining to quilting would be a wonderful gift. I usually try to personalize gifts, if they have mentioned something they would like to have then that is what I would give.

These are all great ideas :)

While in Paris a few years ago, I wandered into a little sewing shop and found the perfect souvenir . . .a Chatelaine . . .it's a chain with small scissors or other hand sewing notions. I treasure mine and it was relatively inexpensive. You can order them in the US online and sometimes can find them in LQS :)

Inchies made into a magnet, a pin, or a bookmark charm at the end of a ribbon.
Print a 12 month 2011 calendar onto fabric and stitch it to a small wall quilt.
Make a gift card case and then include a gift card.
Make an IOU for help with some quilting chore they may need in the future...basting a top, sorting their stash, organizing their studio, all that stuff is easier and more fun with a friend.
Things that show a lot of thought, but don't cost a lot of money, are always special imho.

I recieved a thread catching pin cushion and an around the neck lanyard type pincushion on one end and the other end had a valcor fastener that holds a pair of sissors. Love them and use them both all the time. Made them for some of my quilting and scrapbooking friends and they to love them. Quick, inexpensive and easy but thoughtfully homemade

I like to add a little pattern. (the link is below) I love these, I have gotten quite a few for myself also. I put a hole punch in them and put on like a key ring. They are small patterns about 3x5 for table runners. I can throw them in my purse when heading to town. The last time I purchased they were $3.00 ea.. I particularly like the Center Stage one, have made many of them in many different styles.

There are some cute little scissor "fobs"...kind of like a beaded string that attaches to the scissors...very pretty...alot of LQS's carry them.
