Don't know anything about the gingher cutter. I have the Martelli ergonomic and love it!

I have the gingher cutter and the only difference that I can see is it's weight and smooth lines when handling it.I also have the ripper and do not like it.But I love there scissors.

I wouldn't "second guess". I would most likely "forty guess". I could buy some nice fabric for that price.

Do you think that many items are more expensive to buy at JoAnn's because they know people are going to use their coupons? Maybe this is a new topic.....

I have found the Gingher rotary cutter to collect lint inside the blade much faster than an Olfa. I take apart and clean quite often, otherwise it doesn't work too well. The fabric is always quilt store quality. Other than that, I feel it is a very good product. I think the blades do last a little longer and the ergonomics are better for me.

I have one and think it is over rated. I actually go back to my Fiskars when I am cutting a lot. For some reason it doesn't feel quite right in my hand. I think the blades last longer. It you do decide to get one, try Ebay. Can get a much better deal.

I, too, didn't want to spend that much money on a rotary cutter. But my DH had a 50% coupon and bought me one at Christmas. All I can say is that it's like anything else... when you use a great quality product it feels and works better. The weight and design of it fit perfectly in my hand and it feels luxurious compared to my plastic Olfa. IMHO it's worth it if you have a coupon. BTW, my DH also bought me the matching seam ripper...fabulous!

Ginghar is VERY HEAVY, and not worth the money. You will only use it for a short time, and not want to use it again.
The vast majority of ALL rotary cutters use the same blade. Their is a difference between blades as to their sharpness and how long they last. Stick with Olfa, and you wouldn't be sorry in the short or long run. review by an x-joanne employee. |
I have the Gingher and I don't like it. I have to manually retract the blade, and that's a pain. I much prefer my Olfa that retracts when I set it down. It also has a button to lock it into the safe position.
