I've been wanting t get some of the glow in the dark thread. I saw some at WM last night. I picked it up and cupped my hands around it...it didn't glow. I would think all the bright lighting in there would've had it charged up some? I held up a spool for a bit and tried it again...the same result. nothing glowed.
THey only had one brand. It was almost $5, I think. (( I look at so much when I go shopping, I can never remember how much something cost. Maybe I should start taking my camera! )) I've seen some glow in the dark thread on eBay and online...THey show nice pics with light on and light off. It glows just perfectly...I'm wondering if that is real or if they have a black light on it???? Anyone ever used any of the stuff? |
It is no joke...and it really does glow in the dark....Andrew's quilt was quilted with it. He loves the fact the bones light up at night...Really enhances those Halloween themes as well.

I embroidered my name in the pink and it works well, but it does need to be dark.

LOL, I love the glow in the dark threads!! I make the puzzle balls with it. The boys love em!!
It has to be "charged" and really dark!! I've actually, set it in my purse and looked in at it. There are several brands and several colors to choose from. Watch cuz some say you can wash it, but not dry it in a dryer!! |
Ok, Thanks! What brands do you have?

I saw some today at Wal-Mart when I went for thread. I was sooooo tempted to buy some to try. Let me know how it works please?

Well, GIRLS, what brand(S) do ya have? I will definately post my results when I buy some.... |
Robison Anton & YLI are good brands for glow threads. They are fun to work with, but be sure to trim those edges! :)

I had to check, I have two brands that I've used. Coats worked just fine for what I was using it for. The other is Glow Bug, it does say on it that it is heat sensitive. I've never used either on my machine, but they work great for hand sewing, I think the Glow Bug was a bit thicker. Which made threading the needle a little harder, but it still worked.

YES - GlowBug - that's it! That's the one I was trying to think of! Thanks for reminding me. It is a great product! :)
