Going from 1 to 3 Machines - Setup Questions
 

Santa was very good to me this year! Next week 2 new Juki's are being delivered... a 2010q and a F600. I've had my eye on the 2010q for a few months, in mid December I started looking at the F600 and by the end of the month I was set on adding both.

The 2010q will be my quilting machine, I'm so over wrestling tops through the throat of my 10+ y/old Pfaff Quiltstyle! The features that really appeal to me on the F600 are the deco stitches, break down to free arm and heavy duty sewing (bags). Both have thread cutting and knee lifts which I've never had and am so excited to try out. Until one (or both!) wins me over I'll use my Pfaff with IDF for piecing as I love how accurate it is with not much pinning.

So I'm wondering how do you setup for multiple machines? Do you have several tables or just switch machines in and out? I'm thinking I'd like to have 2 of the 3 ready to sew. I'm looking at adding a Gidget or SewEzi table.

I have several, and keep about five set up, plus my LA. I have a Janome in a Perfexxion cabinet, a Husqvarna in a regular cabinet, a Singer Futura sewing/embroidery on one end of the Perfexxion and a Singer 301 and a Singer FW where they can be set up instantly. I love them all (I have about 12 more as well...) and use them quite consistently. Set up so they suit you and you will love them!

Depends on how much room you have to play with.

I have 3 machines plus my embroidery machine. The embroidery machine lives in the box! However, I have the other 3 set up all the time, each in its own table. If you have the room, you could try that. Really, it depends on how much space you have to work with.

I have at least 3 set up at any time and as many projects usually so that I can do different techniques at different times of the day.

I have a what was my daughter's bedroom for my sewing room. I have two tables I purchased from Staples. The 4' one holds my Bernina Artisa. My husband cut the legs down a little to make it the right height for sewing. Behind it against the wall is another 6' table that holds my two embroidery machines with lots of stuff stored underneath. Inbetween the two tables is a small side table that holds my serger. I have a swivel office chair I also purchased at Staples that enables me to use all of the machines just by twirling around from one to the other. The room was orginally two small bedrooms that we had the dividing wall taken out of years ago when we made it into our master suite. The area my sewing machines etc. take up is only one side of what was one of the original small bedrooms. I also have my desktop computer with it's desk and printer etc in the same space. What was the other small bedroom is now a half bath a small sitting area and a storage unit which holds a lot of stuff including a small TV, my embroidery thread collection and my embroidery software collection. My fabric stash is in my basement in another room that was also once a bedroom when my kids were at home.

Please let us know what you think of these machines. These are the machines that I have been debating about. I've decided for sure to order the TL2010 and I was wavering about the Juki Exceed 600. I can have both of these machines for about the same price as I paid for my Janome 6500 which I have not at all liked as I have had so many problems with it. My problem with the Juki's is that there are practically no dealers in Canada. I have to order it in from Winnipeg and have it delivered by UPS which means I can't try it. I'd appreciate hearing what you think once your set-up is complete.

I came to the same conclusion after thinking at first that I would buy a Janome Horizon. I know there are those who love that machine but I just have read so many good things about Juki. I will definitely be posting about them... The F600 is due 1st on Tuesday. I ordered mine too as my closest dealer is 2 hours away and only handles the 2000 machines, not the Exceed series.

Thanks everyone for sharing such great information. Right now I have a trundle bed in my quilting room that will be moving elsewhere at some point... Then I would have room for all 3 machines. At that time I plan to invest in a "real" sewing table ( wow perfexxion has some beauties!) to hold two of them and use my current table for the other. I hope I love all three and want to use them all the time!
