Hi all, I'm planning to make a golf-themed quilt for a male friend - I have a 12 x 15" paper-pieced block that I was thinking of using as the center. It has a golf bag (on which I was going to embroider his initials), a flag, golf shoes, golf cap, and balls on tees. I also can get about 8 pictures of his favorite golf course that I can use. I also have several golf themed fabrics - golf balls and tees, golfers, golf clubs and balls, carts and misc items, etc. Any ideas of how to put it all together and not look feminine. Am thinking about putting pictures into "frames" of fabric or centers of stars. Are pinwheels, stars, flying geese too "girly" looking. Thanks for your help.

The guys in my family would think that those are girly  but I love them any way :D:D:D Can you find out if he would think these are "girly" to him?
You could frame the pictures using the attic window block. Quilters Cache has a lot of blocks to choose from for the alternate ones. |
Can't ask - Christmas present.
Attic Windows sounds like great idea. Will check out the cache too. THANKS! |
Pinwheels I would think are "girly" the others not so much . I like the windows

Just did a search for golf applique quilt patterns and found a few patterns available. One neat one uses crossed golf clubs out in the border. www.thepatternco.com/products/golf-quilt.htm You'll have to copy & paste the addy can't seem to get the link in.
