I hope all of you have a fantastic day!!! I have not posted a lot lately and decided to take a time out from the daily grind and say hello! Although it is Thursday, today is my day off from watching the kids so i am posting this then going to my machine and sew for the entire day
I dont' know about everyone else, but sometimes i feel SO guilty when i can't make my baby quilts. I think it must be a form of OCD HaHa. I'd like to think it just means that i'm dedicated....not compulsive! The sun is shining here and it looks to be a great day so i hope you all have the Very Best Day Possible!!!!

mygirl66 08-26-2010 04:23 AM

Well good morning to you too! I hope you have a great day as well! It must be sewing Thursday, I have been so busy all week, I have not had time to go into my sewing room much, so today is the day! Have fun!

CarrieAnne 08-26-2010 04:25 AM

Good Morning to you too! I also have the day off and the sun is shining! YEAH!!!!!!!!!

cjomomma 08-26-2010 04:29 AM

Good morning!! The air is so much cooler today so I think it's gonna be a wonderful day. I may try to get some sewing done too.

sahm4605 08-26-2010 04:40 AM

wonderful morning to all. It is lovely here in MO. This is the second morning i have had my windows open. allergys are nuts but I would rather suffer in fresh air than not in a closed up house. I am on the very last leg of my baby quilt. need to get the corner folds stitched down real quick then washed. I am so excited to be done with the binding that I had to do twice. Wish that I could have a sewing day, but that isn't going to happen today. need to start getting ready for ds's first birthday on saturday. Hope everyone has a wonderful and productive day today.

I love my granddaughter (our only grandchild!!) and love being able to care for her, but I do enjoy my days off!! Spent the day yesterday with my sister shopping. Yes I got more fabric!! Now I need another day off to cut it up and put it back together!!

tooMuchFabric 08-26-2010 04:57 AM

Lordy me too. I have DGS 17mo and rare days to myself.

Yarn or Fabric 08-26-2010 05:00 AM

I would love to have your day today, sitting in front of the machine but alas.... work calls. It's a good thing though. I really have to get on the crochet design ball. Caron just sent out design requests to us designers so my season is about to get very busy if all goes well (fingers crossed that they like some of my design proposals!)

I also am a bit behind on designs for my own site. I vowed to release 2 designs a month, sometimes more, on the site. With Halloween and Christmas coming I have to get on the ball and hook lol.

But soon... soon... I will get to be behind the machine as well!!

Mariposa 08-26-2010 05:03 AM

Good Morning! Hope your day is filled with lots of sewing and accomplishment! Have fun! :)

When you are "old" and retired, everyday is a day off! I do miss not having a grand to spend time with me. My youngest is 16 so dosen't need a "sitter" any longer. Besides, she is 1 1/2 hours from me. But she is starting to get into quilting, so it would be great if she were closer. I haven't spent much time at the machine this summer, but have been busy doing hand work. Making lots of hexys for #3 hex quilt, and finishing up the border on #2. Supposed to be hot........100*.........here in my neck of the woods, so will stay in, but it is a beautiful cool morning. Have a wonderful quilty day all.

Lynnejean 08-26-2010 05:18 AM

Good morning to you too! It is going to be a wonderful sewing day for me also! My sewing buddy Melinda in tulsa that I met on this board is coming over for our sewing day together. I have salmon asparagus quiche made for us for lunch and we will be drinking butterscotch toffee coffee this morning.

dkabasketlady 08-26-2010 05:34 AM

Good morning to you too!! I guess this is definitely sewing Thursday because that's what I had planned for the day! YEAH!! May everyone have a VERY productive day!

Hi, Wow if I known there was a sewing party, I would have come, lol. I am in OKC, but coming to Tulsa on Sat. Hubby is going to a stamp show and I am tagging along and will go to the quilt shop on 61 and Sheridan. Forgot the name! Have a good day!

skydiver70 08-26-2010 09:44 AM

Well, I hope you had a good morning and afternoon. I would have been glad to say good morning, but my oh my! I slept til 11:30 a.m. so the morning was already gone.

Anyway, I hope you have a great weekend.

I'm really sleeping too much lately. I'm just getting old I guess, because if it is beauty naps, it's sure not helping me any. LOL.

franie 08-26-2010 09:48 AM

Good morning to you too! By the time I got up you were into noon in NY. I am four hours behind you. It is a nice day here and I might get a little handsewing in. Enjoy your day.

np3 08-26-2010 11:09 AM

Well, it's a nice sewing day here in sunny CA, but the temperature is already over 100 degrees and expected to hit 107. No open windows here!

Ada Shiela 08-26-2010 12:03 PM

Good morning to all of you from Western Australia - we're 12+hours ahead of you all so now it's 4am on Friday here and I get up with the birds

Hope you all had a productive day and managed to stay cool - almost the end of winter here and we're heading for 21º, thank goodness. I've had a few days off from sewing, studying Barb's Bargello tutorial yesterday and printing instructions, visitors for a change etc.

Tale care of yourselves.

I think you are talking about The Quilt Sampler! If you go east on 61st to Memorial (1 mile) turn right (south), go to 71st, go left (east) and The Cotton Patch is on the right hand side of the road in a little strip mall. Enjoy your day here. I would love to meet up with you but unfortunately, I'm not free on Sat. Next time you come up, give us a little more forewarning, so we can meet up!

ganny 08-26-2010 08:03 PM

Well, hope all had a great day! I am old and retired, too. My day starts with feeding 5 house dogs, running the vacuum right quick so I can pull my quilting frame to my chair and start quilting! Then, if I'm lucky, I quilt off and on all day. I am interrupted, tho, when the hubby comes home and I have to stop to cook (and, of course, feed the 5 dogs again). But then, back to my quilt. Was beautiful here in McLoud today. No air conditioner needed, threw open all the doors and windows and just quilted.

Good Morning--good to see there are lots of us early birds out here. Its just getting light, the birds are singing, the windows open (it finally cooled off a bit) and kitty is sitting in the window wanting to go out and chase the birds. (that is not going to happen, but she can dream-ha) First an hour walk-then back to a project of turning seams on an applique project.

ganny 08-27-2010 04:03 AM

Good morning to you. Fixing to go garage saling. Can't believe I am checking this board first! Have a great day!

mar32428 08-27-2010 04:42 AM

Oh what a beautiful morning. Yippee, yahoo and all that good stuff. I was approved by SS and received my electric chair yesterday. Have blocked leg arteries. Have had stents done several times but can't do anymore.

Chair is a dream and I know God was smiling cause I rolled into my sewing room (now arranged for the chair) and right up to my machine. It has five speeds from slow to poppin' wheelies. Who says you have to give up just because you've acquired a few years?

Congratulations! Gives me encouragement!

Good Morning to all of you. It's 7:25 Sat. here. I'm enjoying my morning coffee wit this board as always, that's my way to start the day. Encouragement, advice, help and tips here are so welcome in planning my day and deciding what to do today quilting- and sewingwise besides the one major project I'm trying to finish. Pot holders it is! I need someething to do with my hands or my conscience starts nagging lazy lazy lazy grandma...

Aunt Retta 08-27-2010 08:47 PM

Here it is Friday night. Had medical treatments today and have slept all afternoon and evening. Did get up long enough to feed dog and visit with my mom and then was back to sleep. Now I am ready for my day and every one else is asleep-which means lots of sewing time.

Good morning to all the quilters here too!
So glad it has cooled off here in Mo. Its been to hot to go outside so I have been sewing. When the temps start cooling off I'm outside geting my landscaping ready for winter.
When colder temps. comes in I'm back to sewing.
Been working on xmas gifts and a Downy quilt.

Annya 08-28-2010 08:34 PM

Did you all see that enormous hexagon quilt made by ladies around the world. Gayle and the girls from Sew Creative in Gatton, Australia broke the Guinness record and are now making them into smaller quilts for the local homes and hospitals. Gayle told me it was about 150 meters long. It proves that us women can make ANYTHING if we put our minds to it.
It is Sunday here now and I am trying to clean my sewing room before starting a new quilt. The sun is out and it is warm for a change. You are lucky to have warm weather instead of cold but I know some of you will soon feel the cold winds of autumn and winter so I don't begrudge you the fine warm weather.

zz-pd 08-31-2010 10:49 PM

Good morning Suzi, all though it is 10 min tell Wed now. I hope you had a wonderful day of quilting. God bless.

Ada Shiela 09-02-2010 04:08 PM

Hello Anya

I didn't see the quilt but would love to if you can point me in the right direction please. Regards from WA

Annya 09-02-2010 06:53 PM

Ada, I just got the address for you to go and see it for yourself it is;
www.worldsbiggesthexagonquilt.blogspot.com
I got it from my friend Gayle Chalker just a few minutes ago.
I am going to look at what she had put on to show the people how big it was. It has now been divided into smaller quilts for the hospitals and old people's homes in the area.

Ada Shiela 09-03-2010 06:23 PM

Thank you for that link Annya, that is wonderful and to see Gordon hand piecing in the last pic was nice to see. Qld is a long way from Western Australia, over 3,000kms but you're a wonderful crowd from what we see in our quilting news here and to think the quilt was made by people worldwide.

I saw the Memorial Quilt online which has been made for Sept 11th and to be hung in NY City; that too is a masterpiece and to be cut into smaller quilts later on.

My thoughts and prayers are with all US citizens who were personally affected by that dreadful event - it was bad enough sitting in the safety of our own homes to see it all unfolding.
