Several months ago I ask for recommendations of in store places to shop for fabric. It was my intention to create a list for those who might be traveling or those in surrounding areas.
I did get a very vew names. Most of the responses were related to on line shopping.
I would like to start this again for the new year. I will compile a list by state etc.
NOW.......this list is not on line places but stores or warehouses that sell fabric to the public.
What places do you know of?

If someone is going on vacay can't they just google quilt shops in the area where they are going to be??

In Lubbock, TX we have: JoAnn's @ 82nd and Slide; Hancock's @ Quaker and Loop 289; LQS is Rachel's Fine Fabrics @ 50th and Salem(I think); Moore Quilts (it's new, so not sure of the address. I think it is out on far West 19th). We also have a Hobby Lobby, but the last time I was in there, they didn't have a lot of fabric.

That is what I did when I went to San Diego. I had a whole list of shops and loved them all. I did get some names from friends here on the QB. If I listed all the shops I visit in Denver alone, there would be many, many.....Surely to many to start a list with.

Good start. However, there are many "discount" places around the country that will help us in this economy.
For instances. A new shop has opened up near me. It is called "The $1.99 Fabric Store" Everything in the store is $1.99 per yd. Home Dec, Dress fabric and cotton quilting fabric. The cotton is mixed in quality. Most of it is big box quality but hidden among these are good quilt shop quality. They have a second store down in Connecticut.
Then there is Mardens in Maine that sells prior seasons fabric at $2.97 and $3.97 per yd.

These are the places I would like to know about. Even LQS that has good sales. One shop in my area has a back room where all is $5.00 per yd.

Okay, I am in S. Wisconsin, Rock and Walworth county borders. In Janesville an Milton area is JoAnns, Hobby Lobby, Loose Threads, a REALLY nice LQS, Woodland Quilts, in Whitewater, a LQS, over near Delavan and Darien area is a wonderful Ben Franklin, and Millies has a LQS in it...never been there, though, just heard of it! Janesville also has Lifes a Stitch, another LQS..........

One of my favorite places in Salem, OR is Craft Warehouse. The fabric dept isn't huge, but they offer a decent selection, good quality fabric, reasonable prices and always have something on sale.

When I travel to Minneapolis St. Paul are in Minnesota. I have to stop at Mill Ends. There are many locations in the area and also SR Harris fabric Warehouse. It is HUGE and has anything you can think of you just have to really dig.

In McMinville, Tn I like BJ's fabric, In Pikeville, Tn I like The Loom. Both have a large selection of a varity of all kinds of fabric. The Loom also has great prices on blades for rotary cutters (3 sizes).

Isn't there a quilters' directory that shows shops in every state?
